They really never distorted,Just gave up. It was clean power too. here is a pic, it's hard to get a clear shot of the coils but the black stuff is coil. I'm really looking at getting the same ones Yes, they sound pretty good just hooking them to an amp but if you toss the passive crossovers and run the mids and tweets seperate with active crossovers and do a bit of e.q.'ing and cut the power to the tweets they sound a lot better. I high passed the mids at 75hz and low passed at around 4k, and high passed the tweets at 4k too with a slight gap in frequency to reduce overlap. I prefer the polk db tweeters to the infinity's, they sound less compressed. The polk db 5 1/4's don't quite have the same definition as the infinity mids did but they do the job.
