hot sub

Maybe a dumb question, but what would be a safe temperature? My sub hasn't gotten hot, I was just wondering. I have a way now to check the sub temp and wanted to know an acceptable temp.

if you cant put your hand on the dustcap for more than 5 seconds without burning yourself, then its too hot.

or if you can start to smell the coils cooking.

I haven't had any smell at all, and the sub barely gets warm. I was wondering cuz I have an ivx 15 running off a hifonics Zeus 500.2 bridged at 4ohms. I know the Zeus doesn't put out rated so the subs prolly not being overpowered, but I still want to keep an eye on the sub.

you're fine. barely warm is completely normal.

Even warm is normal, if the sub was cold all the time then it's not working properly, the cooling system is working fine:)
