So i have been looking. My sub was wired at 2 ohms when i had it on a jl 1000/1 amp. my sub is 1200 watts now. (well being rebuilt at psi) but was wondering of pros and cons of 1 ohm, 2, and 4. Different benifits? Get hotter at 1ohm?i can get a audiopipe 1500 for cheap but wanna see if i should get them to put different coils on it to wire it down to 1.........

you will usually see amps power increase when they're impedance(ohms) is lowered.

with few exceptions (i.e. Alpine MRX-M240) & yes the amp will get hotter, especially if you have low voltage and/or clipping.

here are a few pros and cons to wiring to lower ohms.

pro's:

-the amp will push more power(with exceptions like stated above)

-louder bass

cons:

-amp will draw more voltage

-stresses your electrical system more

-less efficient

-more distortion

psi is a very solid company from what i've heard so you have no worries there.

audiopipe? i wouldnt use their shit even if they paid me.

if you're on that much of a budget, just go with Hifonics.

well if your just going to be pushing ~1200watts i don't think a mechman alternator is necessary yet.

(though if you come to a point when you need to, i hear they're extremely reliable alts).

i would just upgrade the battery under the hood, and do the big 3 upgrade if your worried about voltage.

well i would suggest this

http://www.amazon.com/Hifonics-Brutus-BRZ1200-1D-D-Class-Block/dp/B0036B8URK

and wire that PSI down to 1 ohm and youll feel a nice thump.

idk how yellow tops perform. i know you can get a lot better for their price though.

i would go the big 3 in 0awg and see how much less voltage drops.

yeah a more efficient amp would help.

wouldnt surprise me, JL makes overpriced products with ideas of lining their pockets more than anything else.
