Single chamber ported box for two 15's?

I know it's usually best to do two seperate chambers for each sub, but in this case I'm not working with much room. I'm trying to fit two 15" mtx 9500's into the back of a 2001 Malibu. I'm thinking the only way it would be possible to give the subs enough air space is to just make a single chamber ported box around 4-4.5 net cu ft. My question is if the box is around 4 cu ft and its a single chamber, do I run the risk of subs unloading or having too much air space? Any suggestions/help is appreciated.

A lot of people run single chamber's, idk who said it's best to have a seperate chamber for each one, but I don't think that's true (don't know the specifics, hopefully someone more knowlegeable than me will chime in about that) And how much space do those subs call for? What're your dimensions, what's the box look like, a pic would be greattt!

Well then you'r box should be 5 cu ft after displacement then, not 4. I recommend playing around with Torres to see what works for you. Go to the subwoofer section on here and 1 of the pinned links is gonna be about Torres Box tuning Calculator and how to use it

Yeah I already have that and that's what I was using. My concern though was that if the sub manufacturer only calls for 2.48 per sub and I'm putting two subs into 4-4.5 cu ft box wouldn't that be too much air space, or no because they each use a certain amount?

Dude, what I'm saying is that it's not enough air space. If it's less than what they recommend, common sense should say it's not too much.

Hell, you might not be able to fit 2 15's in your trunk. It should be 5 cu ft after displacements, so it may start off as being a 7 or 8 cu ft box.

I understand what your saying. I guess I dont know how to get across what I'm saying. For example...

1 sub in chamber by itself would require 2.48 cu ft. If you take two subs and put them in the same chamber, wouldn't 4.5 cu ft be too much air space if they are in one chamber? I understand if you had seperate chambers it would be 2.48 each and they wouldn't be sharing space. I guess I'm new to the one chamber stuff lol.

Do you treat the one chamber for two subs as you would two separate chambers for each sub and just combine the space?

yes, you treat 1 chamber the same as if you had 2. And with the dimensions you gave me, you cannot fit 2 15's in your trunk with the correct airspace. Not unless there is absolutely noooo bracing and you invert your subs, so i would sayno, you can't fit them both in there

well the manufacture only recommends it be in a 2.5cf box.But it dont mean it has to be.dont get me wrong when doing a daily driver box i try and go with spec.you can build it bigger or smaller and should sound fine.I had 4 9512's in a 4 cf box in my crx. yes it was for comps tuned high BUT they never blew up from the box being to small
