01xtreme
well yeah, extreme does(hell 1/2 the car is concrete!), but everyday guys like us driving the cars we take to work... we burp much lower than extreme class since we usually have lower tune frequencys so we can play musicto answer more directly, different cars peak at different frequencies, but few people burb around 70hz unless they are into some serious competitions with lots of money The reasone they tune so high in extreme is because of the concrete, and other reinforcements, and other modifications to the interiors. It raises the resonant frequency of the vehicle because there is so much interior space they take away from the cars. tejcurrent
^My thoughts exactly. A large vehicle will typically have a lower res. frequency than a small hatch or pick-up because of the space. Then take up half the small space with equipment (or more) and more with sound deadening, also reducing a lot of the flexing and there you go. Also many cars have two peaks. banginAltima
Okay I understand all that now. So my next question is would it be better to tune my box to the car freq? Decaf
no because your enclosure peaks anywhere from 6-15hz above tune frequency thus, ur enclosure tuning should be anywhere from 30hz-38hz, ur choice, the lower you go the more notes you can hear, and ur peak drops, but it looks like the lowest ur going to see your enclosure peak is 44, and thats with an enclosure tuned to 30hz, which some say is too low, but any lower you would lose some high subbass personally id suggest 5.6cuft@35hz w/60sqin of port Edited January 16, 2008 by decafcappucino
