So on my head unit (pioneer deh-p8300ub) I have 4x22watts rms output for my speakers, 1 for each front speaker, 1. For each back speaker. However, in my car I have 3 sets of speaker locations, 1 in the rear deck (rear), 1 in the front doors (front), and 1 in the dash (dash). After investigating, I found that both the front and dash speakers were running off the head units front power outputs (they were sharing). I recently took both the front and rear speakers off the head unit ad used an external amplifier to power those two sets. Now, here's my question: I am looking to buy an new set of 3.5 inch coaxial speakers for my dash which will be ruunning off the head unit. Will the power they recive be 22 wats rms per speaker since I don't have the front door speakers running through the head unit, or will it still be cut in half to 11 watts rms per speaker because the power from the head unit was split into 2 separate ses of speakers? The reason I ask is because it will determine which speakers I buy. Hopefully that all made sense, if not just letme know. Thanks in advance! You thinking of trying to bridge the channels or something? you are way overthinking this. just because you arent using the outputs the power is not going to magically transfer to the front speakers or anything. MrClean636 Posted October 2, 2012 Report Posted October 2, 2012 If the front output form the radio is hooked up to 2 sets (the dash and front doors) totalling 4 speakers. then the output of each channel (L+R) would be split. 11w RMS to each speaker. If you unhook a set (say the dash), then each front door speaker will get 22w rms. You only lose power if something if drawing, a split is just a connection. Now what are you asking here? You want to keep the front and rear outputs from your radio separate. They are a different signal. Once you start tying things together like that you cause changes in impedance and your built-in amplifier (in the headunit) will not work. So simply NO, you CANNOT tie together the front and rear channel for a single pair of speakers. You COULD however do the front output on your dash speakers (22w rms each) and the read output on your front door speakers (22w rms each.) I hope that answered your question. A setup with no rear left, no rear right, no front left, but then hooking up a front right will still only give you 22w rms to that front right speaker. Alright thanks guys, that answers my question, I guess I jus wanted to make sure that the power wouldn't be going up front and making it 44 rms a piece so that I wouldn't blow a pair of speakers in 3 uses. And the rockford punch 3.5s is what I was planning on running. Thanks again guys, guess I was over thinking it lol, sorry...
