Learn from me! haha

If something says XXX max dont feed it 25% more as RMS or this will happen!

Even with prper x-over points and clean signal too much power is a killer!

This was set up with 0db tracks, an o-scope and a DD-1.

I'm running active and found that on my 65X4 amp after setting gains with the 0db track i had to turn my gain for my tweets way down. Not that i was worried about blowing them but rather they didn't need the power. Tweeters usually have way more sensitivity than mids so get loud easier on less power.

edit for spelling

And that's exactly why I want to run active. The stock tweeters in my truck are really harsh, but I don't really have a way of calming them down, aside from playing with the EQ on the deck.

Hahaha I'm not too interested in overpowering my mids and highs. I just want them to sound nice. On top of that, I'm sure I'm not even hitting 140 with my truck, so I shouldn't have issues with my mids and highs keeping up with the bass.

If your rated at 120max a good rule to follow is 1/2 the power RMS.

As staed above a good clean signal is a must.

the safe way to go, again as mentioned already, is teh 0db track and a high cut off frequency. If you start very high you can always bring that point lower.

I ran my Boston Pro's off a Fosgate 60x2 pushing a little over 100 watts per channel and they sounded great! I had to jump in with more powr and killed them. GOOD CLEAN MODERATE power should get you exactly what your looking for. Max / 2 = A Good start to RMS input.

Good luck with teh install.
