I was wondering if anyone had any diagrams of a box for this kind of setup. Its going into a ford taurus station wagon...shut your fayce. Ahem, right now ive got a single 2.5 12 in this... http://www.crutchfie...ker.html?tp=127 its only 1.6 cubes. It does ok but ive only hit 98db. Its running of the 1200d at 2ohms. "I think"

The plan is to get the right box. I may build it myself or if its a really complex but freakin worth it box im hoping to get plans here and maybe have someone make it for me. Any thoughts or pictures? Pictures/vids help me alot.

This is what it looks like now. 55037910151053342932554.jpg

My battery is sitting at about 12.7v when the car is off. Goes up to around 13.8 when its running. Pretty sure my battery is dieing. It likes to die on me in the morning when i put it in drive or park and it hasnt sufficiently warmed up. At any rate im looking to replace the battery and i want to wire things up better but i dont know where to begin. So a battery lets start there. What is going to fit into a 98 ford taurus that can run this amp well? Id like to also get terminal clamps that have the screwdowns forthe amp wire. What are they called and where can i get some? Should i replace any wiring for any reason?

Those voltages are not that bad for a stock electrical, the box size look bad and at 2 ohm load the amp is not delivering anywhere near the 1200W, what looks bad is the box, post your maximum dims for a box. Also how did you get that 98dB measurement? it's really low output for that setup, guess your gains are not properly set, you should read a little more on how to setup your system.

I used an app for my phone that reads spl out by my dash. I take it with a grain of salt being that phone microphones tend to suck and it was a free app. For dimensions im working with a Height of 16" up to the window. It may be ok to go another inch or two if needed. Width is 46" Length is 44"

Ok so i did a bit of reading up and checking around. Id taken my car to cartoys and asked them to tune it. Theres the likelihood they did it wrong. Or my box isnt able to help the true glory of hte sub come out. But anyways i have it wired so it should be at 2 ohms. Hooked a multimeter up and its showing 2.2 ohms. So if i calculate by what i set it as with 2 ohms it comes out to 34.64 on the gain setting for voltage with a 60hz test tone. If i do it by 2.2 what its actually reading it says set it to 36.33 volts. I plan on doing this tomorrow to set my gains. But which should i go by? The reading or what its supposed to be?

Any ideas for a box for 2x sdc 2.5 12's?

Post you max dims for a box if you would like a suggestion , also if you don't think that the cartoys guys did a good job you could get or borrow a SMD DD-1 to do the gains setup.

Here's the suggestion:

Enclosure Specifications:

Fb = 35 Hz

Vb = 5 ft^3

External Height = 17 in

External Width = 43 in

External Depth = 21 in

Port Width = 5 1/2 in

Cut Sheet List:

* All Dimensions in Inches.

* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.

External Enclosure Parts:

2 x Top & Bottom (3 parts) = 43 x 21

Left & Right Sides = 19 1/2 x 14 3/4

2x Front = 18 3/4 x 14 3/4

Back = 43 x 14 3/4

Shared Port Internal Assembly Parts:

2 x Front to Back = 16 3/4 x 14 3/4

2 x Extension = 3 3/8 x 14 3/4

Assembly guide (generic dimensions):

Let me know any questions.

Wow amazing Joe! Ok so im going to try and make this in sketchup with the dimensions so i can get a better feel for the project. But first off on the bottom next to the port are those also ports or is that a closed panel? About how many and what size mdf board should i get? It says 2x top and bottom and on the picture it looks like they are double layered so is it just like it sounds? Cut 2 identical pieces and stack em? Any recommendations on a good glue that absorbs into the mdf? The little pieces in the corner are baffles? I see theyre mitered in there is it just mdf? Approximately how wide should each piece be? And i see 6 of them. Should they be ont he inside walls as well or just those back ones?

Those were 45s placed across the bottom but since that has confused many people I have taken them off as you can see above, and yes it's a double baffle which by the way is optional (so you can do a single layer one if you want) unless you were to upgrade subs at some point or you would like to do a flush mount, Titebond II or III wood glue would be excellent for this job as well as MDF screws, as above those pieces in the corners are referred as 45s, and are really optional, I show them in the pics for those who can and want to do them, I would recommend doing at least the ones inside of the port, and I will calculate their size for you if you want to do them, the others can be done 2 1/2" wide. Home depot can do the straight cuts for you, just give them the cut sheet and they will figure it out, It really depends on how you do the cuts to save material. Hope it's all there but if you have any other questions, let me know.

So summarizing here. Do the miter joints at 45 degrees? Ill look it up too. Need pictures. So the double baffle is the second layer on the top? About what screw lengths am i looking for? Especially for the double baffle? Should i pre drill the holes? Any head type that works or looks better? Im planning on painting the box. Wait office depot? Uhm...are you sure they cut wood? Do they do that for free?
