Bass scoops, how do they sound?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I have just herd raves and raves of people saying how bass scoops put out some really good bass (into more electronic and rap). For my current DJ system, I'm using simple ported boxes, would two of these drivers go good in one? they are 15 inchers.

Driver parameters:

Qts=0.390

Fs=20.00 Hz

Vas=14.35 cu. ft

SPL=97.0 dB 1W 1m

max power=210 W RMS

Diameter=0.457 m

Xmax=0.013 m

Qtc= .707

Calculated parameters:

Vd=0.001436 m^3

n0=0.031623

Fc=36.26 Hz

F3=36.26 Hz

Vb=6.28 cu. ft

Par=1.512 acoustic W

Per=47.82 W

Thanks, Ian

Im a broke student. still manage to have a pretty good system though.. (at least i think)

That's a REALLY low Fs even for electronic music. And 210 RMS and only 97db sens? I'd look elsewhere. Check out Bill Fitzmaurice's site or Speakerplans.com

To answer your question, yes, it seems that bass scoops or folded horns produce low end in pro audio much more efficiently than standard bass reflex boxes. But it depends on drivers and how the boxes are built.

POTATO!
