Ohm load wiring.

How do I wire single ohm speakers to get a 2 ohm load on a 4 channel amp? How many to achieve it and what channels to use?. Basically when an amp says 150 Watts per channel @ 4 ohms and 300Watts @2 ohms. Hypothetically...

the "average" 4 channel amp can be bridged down to 2 channels. Each of those channels can run a load of 4 ohms only.

So to achieve the 2 ohm rating you are talking about you would be running each of teh four channels with either a single 2 ohm coil, a dual 1 ohm coil or a dual 4 ohm coil. And you would need 4 speakers.

Again this is for the average 4 channel amp. A particular make and model would help

No particular amp. But what about single 4 ohm speakers? Im trying to get the most out of my speakers without having to have too many amps! I have 4- pwx6's, 2-Power Bass 4xl 6.5's,, 2 Alpine 6.5 coaxials, 4-Crescendo FT-1s. I have 2 Planet Audio B.150's but those will be sold and will be upgrading. All my speakers are single 4-ohms.

if you back out the FT-1's you have Twelve (12) 4 ohm speakers. That would give you six (6) 2 ohm loads. So at minimum you would need 6 channels of 2ohm stable power. So at minimum one 4 channel amp and one 2 channel amp. Or if you can find it a 6 channel that will do the trick.

Mind you this is a rough example as x-over needs and other things have not been discussed. I'm simply talking about what it would take base on what you have to get you 2 ohm loads.

So thats 2 speakers wired + to- together on each channel of the four channel? And the rest on a 2-channel is what youre saying?

Correct.

If it were me I would have:

Two FT1's on channels 1&2 crossed over at 3500khz

Two pwx6's on channels 3&4 Crossed over at 100hz

And the alpines and power bass on channels 5&6 crossed over at 125-150hz since they have s lower power handling and higher frequency response.

But then again I think you have to much of a mix match of stuff. Get rid of the powerbass and alpine And planet audio. Pick up another set or two of the pwx6's if you have to. What is this going in?

Thanks ROLEX for the input! Well this stuff I already had and didnt plan on buying new stuff unless I absolutely need to. I have a build thread if u wanna check it out.

But here goes:

2-PWX-6's in each front door (4 total)

1-Power Bass 6.5 in each kick panel (2total)

1-FT1 in each door (4total)

2-Alpine 6.5 coaxials in each rear door (2total)

I have currently (2) Sundown SA-15's on a Skar 1500.1 and will be getting 2 more SA 15's to do a wall. Already got one more Skar 1500. Just wanting my mids and highs to keep up.
