Decaf
smh, so much misinformationEvery system is different, I would not follow these guidelines, same thing as your port should be 12-16sqin/cuft... its a silly redundant rule of thumb people regurgitateAlso, the crossover point is already -3dB/-6dB depending on filter type, so if you set it too high you are actually quieting notes you want to play. This is why most "educated" users will turn SSF to minimum and NOT play below what they know the sub can handle. For instance, I can currently play to 26hz and it sounds great, 25hz my output goes way down and excursion goes way up... this is 9hz below tuning. By the above equation it should be at 25.5hz, but putting it there will quiet my 30-26hz output also.
nicor6
or i think easiest way for this calculation is the frequency * 0.75?? like he said 45hz*0.75=33.75hz

Exactly, when you get loud, you can fold cones in seconds if you don't watch it, you test to your limit and yes on occasion you will blow some equipment. I have done it many times, but each time helps me find a new limit. I don't play anything below 30 hz loud, I can play anything I want to just don't play stuff that low that loud because I like to keep my subs together. I set my SSF at 30 to be safe. Decaf
or i think easiest way for this calculation is the frequency * 0.75?? like he said 45hz*0.75=33.75hz No, this site needs some intelligent people to come back... its been overrun but this kinda stuff, LOL An octave has no relation to over excursion and loss of output... the higher you tune the further away the SSF will be and the more likely damage could happen if you are trying to use it to prevent lower notes. Tuned to 60hz would by this "theory" put the SSF at 45hz.... you could easily be at XMAX or greater by 45hz when tuned that high
moh.vze.com
Anyone have the link for Meade's how to set gains on sub amps with oscope? I found the one where he shows us how to check headunit for max volume here: DC Audio - Singer Alternators - Knukonceptz - XS Power - Hybrid Audio - Rockford Fosgate - Second Skin Audio - SMD - Sundown Audio - Elemental Designs
