Alternator Problems

Recommended Posts

When i got my jeep we got it looked over by an automotive specialist, and we got the battery replaced, the voltage read about 11-12 volts. i freaked out and they said that the old battery was putting strain on the alternator, and this was normal for the voltage.

So today i notice when i start my car the voltage goes past 14 volts, and when the bass hits it goes down to about 11 or so.

Is my alternator ready to head out to pasture? and if i need the electrical system overhauled,

How much for a beefy alt?

and (since i dont want to risk fucking my car up) would the installer (shucks, autozone) be able to install it and do "The big 3" ive heard so much about?

Thanks for taking the time to help a brutha out

WOO-WOOOO!

how much power are you running first of all? next a bigger alternator would help and as far as prices go, hit up dom and there's some others, play around in the electrical section of the forum.

1-DC 5K amp

(1) XS Power D6500(UNDERHOOD) and (1) XS3000(REAR)
