Loud & Low 8th Gen Civic - Time to say good bye to her.

Got some goodies in the other day. Some for this build, some old friends back with me for the truck. But I'll post them up here too cause they do relate for now.

First some sexy Sky High Car Audio 1/0 ga heat shrink

Also got the first two of four of these beauties! I still have to buy the second two but I was just waiting for paypal to clear my bank account to pay a credit card bill. Should be buying this week or next. Not in a huge hurry at this point.

Box 1 of 2, 5 of the soundstream 6.5's, 2 Soundstream Bullet Tweets, and a pair of Soundstream Soft Dome Tweets. This relates cause until I can get my Crescendo's built into my doors, I need to do something for some better sound. I think I may have blown my coaxials in the car. So I'll probably put a pair of the 6.5's and the soft domes in there for now.

Box 2 of 2, 3 more Soundstream 6.5's, and some techflex and heatshrink. Gonna need plenty of this stuff!

This is the placement I'm looking at for the batteries. Two on each side. Plenty of space for them and stay out of the space between the wheel wells for the enclosure etc. Also plenty to put a front cover on them and dress them up!

I am trying to decide, however, if I want to straight stack them, or leave them staggered stacked like this. If I straight stack them, I need to cut a wing off the wheel well, to straighten them up. If I leave them staggered stacked, then I can just do a fiberglass back and then do a front cover. If straight stacked, they'll get buss bars, if they get staggered stacked then one cable off each post and they'll be dressed up nicely. I have a big plan for a fuse block down on the floor. Open to discussion on this.

So that's it for today. Got some things that will be starting up soon. I need to get back to the amp rack, but the house has been taking up all my time. Literally about every time I cross one thing off the list, something else is breaking! So it's been hard to get any free time. But things will pick up again soon.

Thanks. Hoping to buy some time here soon to get some real progress going! Damn house keeps getting in the way! I swear, I just replaced the dishwasher, stole it form our other house since it was only 2 years old. The other one here sounds like an airliner! Anyway, damn thing started leaking today! Like I said, every day is something new. Now I'm getting sick! I can't get a break!!!

So I took some measurements this weekend on the new batts. These are right out of the box floating measurements.

Battery 1

Battery 2

So after that I put them on the charger for full days, Batt 1 on Saturday, and it charged up to 14.5v. Took it off the charger and put the charger on the second battery and again charged up to 14.5v. Checked the first battery after a full day of rest and it was sitting at 13.3v FTMFW!! Checked the second battery this morning and it was resting at 13.2v. That's bad ass!!!

Didn't get pics, but I will. Not sure it'll stay that high, but that's nice for resting voltage. I should be able to buy the second two this week, and I've also designed a nice way to hold them in place. But I'll reveal that when it's time. Thanks Wicks!!

Also, in case you didn't see this on my facebook page, I had an accident this weekend. You all know I've been working on both my houses, the old to get it listed, and the new cause shit keeps breaking! Well I swapped out my dishwasher and microwave last week but still needed to take the ones from my current house over to replace the better ones I took out of the other house. Anyway, I had to move the car, to put the truck in the driveway, and I had a big run in with a curb drain by my house. It was completely a brain dead moment on my part. I can only attribute it to being sick and working as well this weekend so I was pretty foggy headed Saturday morning when it happened. But here is the damage. 64818_499470833445732_2118940249_n.jpg

Doesn't look like much in the picture, but it's about a 2 1/2" gouge in the rim and it sticks out like a sore thumb on this black wheel. I'm so upset about it. But on the other hand this may have helped me make my decision on getting new wheels. I have been thinking about it for the last few months, but I wasn't really ready to do that just yet. But I think after this I may be forced to. Not because these wheels don't work anymore, it's just the fact that this one is so messed up. These are the one's I've been looking at:

Falken RT-7M

rt-7m.jpg

or these

Falken RT-6SS

Both of those would be in 18x9's. I have the tires already and they're still in great shape. The only problem I have is, money as usual. I've been sitting on a pair of truck wheels and my original car wheels (SVT Sabbotini's) for years now and I simply have not been able to sell them. If I could somehow get those sold it would help me tremendously, and then of course I'd have to sell the Varrstoen's that I have on there now. Both of these new wheels are about $200 each. So I'm sure it'll be a while until that happens.

So that's about it. I'm about 80% done with the old house and it should be ready to list by this weekend. After that, hopefully next week, I'll be able to start taking a couple hours here and there on the weeknights to start working on the build again. Stay tuned, stay patient, it's coming. Not as quickly as I'd like yet, but it's coming!

If you want updates quicker, go like my Facebook page and get the updates before anyone else.

Thanks.

I have two of my Soundstream SM6.5s in the truck right now, since they are 8ohm they are getting about 40w a piece they are pretty loud and clear. As far as the wheels go I like the Falken RT-6SS a lot. That other style has that cookie cutter tuner wheel look that everybody has.

Thanks for the input. 40 watts per isn't much so it's good they don't take much to get loud. Help me for the future when I get them in my truck.

I agree, I like the RT-6SS as well. I'm going to see if i can get financed for them, and try to sell the others in the meantime. Otherwise it'll mean a ton of overtime and work to get them paid off. But, that's life right!! LOL

yeah the plan for mine is to run them on a TN900.4D 4 on each front channel @2ohm and bridge the back channels on two SME10s @4ohms. They do really seem to need little power to get loud.
