scooter99 Posted November 15, 2013 Author Report Posted November 15, 2013 So as I said before I can only manage little bits at a time. Hour here, hour there, some more time invested on the weekends sometimes. So it's going to be slow, but it hopefully will be steady. I got another hour or so in tonight, and managed to get the floor template cut and ready. Let's take a look. Laid out some 1/4" MDF to get the template drawn out. That's 2 sheets there. It's only 2' x 4' per sheet. needed one more piece for the middle. Forgot about some trimming that needed to be done, you can see here. Black lines And here. Got it all laid out and in place tape to hold it in place while it's traced out. and got it drawn out. 3 pieces. In here I did not do a piece at the bottom because it's not going to go in in one piece because of how wide it is. Even if I cut it in the middle left to right, it'll still not fit. So I'll leave that out for now. Passenger side cut out Top middle cut out and then the driver side cut out and put it all together. Had some minor trimming to do, but it's in. Driver side Passenger side. Next up is getting this transferred onto 3/4" birch. I think before that happens, we'll have to figure out where the enclosure is going to come back to. So that's pretty much it for tonight. Like I said little bits at a time. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build

scooter99 Posted November 16, 2013 Author Report Posted November 16, 2013 Ok so I have pics from tonight. I have been brainstorming fro the last 45 minutes or so because I was, once again, over thinking the trim panel for the amp rack. Well my mind got to working and it's now blown! What I have in store for this thing, if I can make it come out right, is going to blow all your minds............................I hope anyway! LOL We'll see I guess!! Well let's get on to today's and tonight's progress. Last night I left you guys, the templates were all done and in the trunk. Now today it's time to make it an actual floor. So I got out the 3/4" birch to get ready to cut the floor out. Placed my template on it and traced it out. Got the majority cut out with the circular saw And then the rest with the jigsaw. I decided I needed to do something about the center. I decided instead of routering this out, I would just cut it on the line with the jigsaw. Came out pretty well. I'm happy with it. It's not going to be seen granted, however I also don't want to just go hacking anything up. SO I want even the unseen to be nice. So I needed to do a border on this so I could cut the middle out. How could I do that. It's not a square so I can't just measure in an inch and draw a straight line. SO I had to come up with a way to trace it. Grabbed some crap wood and cut it. One piece just for the guide, and the other for the distance I wanted from the edge. Drilled some pilot holes and put some screws in to attach the pieces together. Hard to see but I had them spaced apart about 3/4". Tapped a sharpie to the edge and now we have a homemade guide. And there's the border! This will give me a trim ring around the amp rack and I can also do a center panel off this as a cover for the amp rack. That'll be later. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
scooter99 Posted November 16, 2013 Author Report Posted November 16, 2013 Next I cut out the middle with the jigsaw. This is where it'ls gonna go. Over the amp rack edges. Ok now that we're good to go on that, let's get this floor trimmed out and done. Picked up some two sided tape from Home Depot. This stuff is expensive! This is barely 30 feet and was $11.00. WTF!?! Taped up the back of the trim panels. And now we're ready for some flush trimming. Close up The weapon of choice! Porter Cable Router! With a flush trim bit! Made short work of it, and we're done! Final product after popping off the templates. Now I need to cut it in half so it's two pieces. The one piece whole won't fit in the trunk. I'm not fighting that battle! So a center line was measured and made with a speed square and is ready to be cut. Now it's ready to go in the trunk. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
scooter99 Posted November 16, 2013 Author Report Posted November 16, 2013 Driver side in Passenger side in Trim ring in..........sort of. The back of the amp rack was sitting too high. I actually remembered at this point that it may have to be trimmed down, and now that is confirmed. LOL Bit better look So I took a break at this point and met my wife with the kids and had dinner. Was nice to take a break and let the mid rest. Then I got back at it. This is what needs to go. From that corner along the back To this corner on the other side. That's about how much needs to come off. But I wanted to do it from the back side. Marked and ready to cut. Now I know it's not straight. I knew it wouldn't be. I knew it wouldn't be when I made it originally. That's why I figured it would have to be cut. Now it's ready to go back in. Much better And it's much better. Sits down where it should be. Does sit up a bit back here, but that's from the amp rack. I need to get some nutserts so I can anchor it down to the floor. Does anyone know where I can get some good ones as well as the driver? I'll look on the interwebz but I figured someone may have a good place. I'm going to need quite a few inserts so hopefully I can find some for a decent price. Better view of how it sticks up. Only about 1/8 - 1/4", but it's enough to mess some things up possibly. See I can push it down and it flushes right up. So as soon as I can get the nutserts and get the amp rack anchored in, this will sit down just fine. Facebook Page: S99Creations 2006 F250 Lariat Build
