superduty std cab sub firing direction

Replacing my 2 sealed 12" ID's firing forward behind each seat, box was tight against wall.

They sounded great but I want to do something different.

I'm going with a 15" Orion Hcca that I have (actually got 2).

It calls for 4 cuft vented with two 4" ports 14" long.

I've run it through calculators and thats the desired box I like.

I can go smaller cuft and the spl jumps by about 5db to 136 or so but freq. is peakier and higher (40-60hz at best).

Bigger cuft gives a wider freq. response but some spl loss.

They don't recommend sealed but freq. response is good but takes about another 5db loss too.

T/S parameters in a 4 cuft with stated ports estimated about 131db with 800w and good freq response.

An article I read said to run these either up or down as best. Does that really matter?

Tight dimension limits I have to deal with. Sub is as wide as the box basically.

16" wide

16" tall tapering to 14" tall to match armrest angle

32" long

the legs out behind each seat

(new box may go forward to dash and be about 48" overall but need to narrow to clear 4x4 shifter and dash tray and cup holder.

not to many easy points to measure, 11 seperate calculations and then all the minus stuff!

If I run sub up, I loose the armrest cover because thats where the woofer cone is, but could do up ports easy.

That puts sub about 15" from my right ear and port could be right behind it.

Can run down fire sub and possibly down fire port too.

Could try a rear fire sub directly into wall but porting same direction gets harder.

Could do rear sub with down ports if that would work.

Thought about a slot port instead of the two 4" rounds but locaton becomes more difficult.

Which would be least likely to have phase cancellation?

Which sounds the most realistic if possible? dumb question I know!

Dumb question but can you power a dual vc sub by 2 seperate amps?

I say no, how would you ever get the power equal to both windings at the same time.

What's the thought on this too.

To many thoughts going on right now, gotta take a break.

Thanks

Current system:

Front--Focal 165k2p components

Rear---Polk Momo 5x7 rear fill

Front amp--Rockford Fosgate Power 650 w/4" fan bridged @ 372.49w x 2(poor Focals)

Rear amp--Phoenix Gold ti400.2 @ 100w x 2

Subs--2 Image Dynamics IDQ12D2V.2 @ 1cu.ft. each sealed

Sub amps--2 Phoenix Gold ti800.1 @ 800w+ one for each woofer(poor ID's)

head unit--Alpine 7292s vintage 1990's

Eq--Alpine ERE-G180

Cd changer--Alpine 5960 6 disc also vintage 1990's

Alumapro 5fd cap

dual 1000cca batteries

ho 200amp alt.

No need to clip it because of the headroom I have with the power.

Dang spider wire broke on the Focal when glue came off the cone. Time to redo!

This is a std cab truck!!

System is changing soon!!

Looking to do a 3 way setup up front, and may double that up, to get the volume.

Also have 2 Orion HCCA15d early vintage and 3 Orion XTR2250 on hand.

Looking for Audison VRX, LRX or Zapco c2k to possibly add in.
