dpeebs Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 hi guys, i am havinng a slight problem in my truck. i have a hifonics brz 1700.1D and a kicker zx350.4 and a kenwood kiv-700 deck. i have 230 amp alt only one batt under the hood, big 3 done. 0 gauge from batt to sub amp. 4 gauge from batt to 4 channel and i have half my new speakers installed. i have to finish up the fronts, but i have been having this problem for a little over a month now. started after i swithched from a cheap wiring kit to a knuconcept kit. my 4 channel amp will go into protect when the bass hits hard, or if the amp is cold. the odd time my amp will actually stay in protect till i turn the truck off, this only happens when its really cold then its fine when it harms up. but it goes into protect when the bass hits hard or for long time and the odd time if i hammer the gas it will go into protect. i checked the ground with a test light and its a good ground and my amps are set with a dd-1 and i dont have it cranked either distorts at 33 and i listen to it at 29-31 depending on the song.
Fatman489 Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 Make sure your speaker wires arnt grounding out especially inside the doors ... I've had that cause random protects in my 4 ch before ... It's worth looking at anyway lol DFAC Beating Down The Block 2013 Kenworth T-660 Studio Sleeper-The daily and Money maker I do what I want -push it till it pops!
dpeebs Posted December 4, 2012 Author Report Posted December 4, 2012 i checked the wires, but the speakers are old so im assuming there vc are shot
jl008 Posted December 5, 2012 Report Posted December 5, 2012 Check and see what voltage your 4 channel amp protects at. On a cold start your alt may charge a little high. I had this happen with one of my dd amps. Anything over 15.2 would put it in protect. Couldn't say for sure that's what's up, cause there are to many other factors but its a idea. Good luck!! set up Alpine 9851, Sundown sax 100.4d, Digital Designs M3A, Incriminator audio components X 2, HCCA Tweeters, 2xDD 3512sc dual .7 coils , H.O 220 amp alt, Optima yellow top under hood, batcap 4000 in the back, Big 3, and all 0 gauge runs. For now but it's never finished!!!
Team Maxxsonics John Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 There really is no such thing as checking ground with a test light and confirming that it is a good ground...only confirms the light is working. I would suggest that you call Maxxsonics tech support department and get some assistance. I'm confident that the problem will be easily corrected. Allowing the amp to repeatedly go into the protect mode is a recipe for disaster and soon enough, it will stick in protect and that you do not want.
skittlesRgood Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Ya, the test light didnt tell you anything. I would bet its a bad connection since it happened after you changed out your wiring. this kind of problem has been answered VERY quickly in the past when the person provides pictures of all their connections while they are installed. i suggest you do that. If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.
