bass control knob - OEM toyota 4runner 1997

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and I have a pretty basic question. I recently installed a car computer into my 1997 Toyota 4runner by completely removing the head unit and using this connector, amp integration connector, to connect my STOCK OEM speaker amp to an RCA to 3.5mm headphone cable DIRECTLY to my car computer (i.e. no hardware EQ or crossover).

I also added a ground loop isolator because the computer was generating some massive noise because of the power inverter. Because I don't have a hardware EQ knob, my sound is very FLAT (i.e. no bass at all).

My question is if I buy a bass control knob, will my speakers (rear speakers have a driver I believe) output any bass?

Sorry if I get my "audio terminology" wrong, I'm an IT guy and not an audio buff

The bass knob will not add any bass whatsoever, it is only used to control the RCA levels from the deck to the amplifier. It does not add any bass or modify the signal at all, if you were to hook it up to your stock amp it would just be another volume knob.

I figured as much, can you suggest a relatively cheap solution that can control the bass from the stock amp? perhaps an EQ with only one or two knobs that can modify the signal but will not distort it?

I haven't seen an EQ that only has 2 knobs for that, but I'd recommend just getting an EQ so you'd have more control over your sound since you do not have a headunit to do that. I'm not sure if EQ's don't distort though

How about a "bass boost" knob ? do they modify the signal to allow for more bass or are they the same thing as bass control knobs? I don't want to buy an expensive EQ because I already spent over $500.00 on my system and I'm on a budget with this old car (replacing it soon). "IF" I were to buy a EQ, do you know any good brands?

A bass boost knob comes with some amplifiers which only work for them. Clarion makes a good EQ for 50 bucks on sonic electronix, I've heard good things about it
