Herokight Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 I'm considering going full out ridiculous on my next ride and was wondering what some of you would consider too over the top. So far, I'm thinking: Suicide doors Shaved handles all around MAYBE front Lambo doors (MAYBE) Split hood Some of these I feel confident on with a little help, but others I'm really unsure of doing alone. I'm thinking about letting a shop do the shaved handles and suicide doors. The Lambo and split hood kits look pretty straight forward though, as long as I have someone with welding experience help with the brackets for the split hood since they have to be welded onto the body. OrangeJuiced Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 Split hood and Lambo doors are over done. It use to be full custom and original. Now it's an easy kit and everyone is doing them. Just my opinion. Even suicide doors are getting ridiculous. I hate going to a show and seeing a stock height escalade ext with all 4 doors lambo, 28's and custom paint. I'm not trying to put down the work, but there isn't much custom about a bolt on kit. Do the work yourself. Start by shaving the door handles. If you get a small 110v mig welder you could do it very easily. Again this is my opinion and I'm not trying to discredit people's work. 2001 GMC Sierra Build. Body dropped and Juiced
Herokight Posted December 10, 2012 Author Report Posted December 10, 2012 Oh yeah I understand. I've been reading alot about shaving door handles and seen a few ways to do it, some weldless that I may be able to pull off. I've never done any body work, so it would definitely be a learning experience. I think you read my thread about suicide doors, but like I said there my main concern with it is the safety of passengers (from rear doors popping open) and being afraid that it'd cost more to fix a mistake I made than letting someone else do it right the first time. On the Lambo doors, that'd be a HUUUUUUUGE maybe. They're so worn out and overdone that Lambos don't hardly have them anymore. It'd almost be better to do butteryfly doors if I was about a foot shorter. Lane AKA HeroKight '96 Jeep Cherokee Classic 4x4 R.I.P. Molliboo $200 for new tires, on a jeep!? OrangeJuiced Posted December 10, 2012 Report Posted December 10, 2012 Is this a truck? Ext cab? You can get creative without the bolt on mods. If you plan on modifying and customizing. Look into a mig welder and how to weld. Some nice things, depending on the truck, shaved body lines, door handles, front and rear roll pans, wiper cowl, gutters. Small things like that really change the look of the truck without making it look unoriginal and cheesy. 2001 GMC Sierra Build. Body dropped and Juiced
Herokight Posted December 10, 2012 Author Report Posted December 10, 2012 Nah man. Don't have a car yet, but I've pretty much set my heart on getting an HHR. Just one of those things. Saw it, looked up a little about it, and fell in love with it. This: I think suicide doors with shaved handles and (maybe, not sure since i haven't found many pics of it done) split hood would look pretty slick on it. Lambo doors up front would be a little cheesy though. I have leaned a little towards mini-truckin' though. I love hard body Nissans. Well shit. Looking closer I don't know if a split hood would work. Herokight Posted December 10, 2012 Author Report Posted December 10, 2012 Well, googled a little more, and... Yep. Shaved handles and suicides look pretty good on these. Atleast to me.
