Hey people its me again with another question. My friend wants to get a rockford fosgate T1 12" sub for his 2007 toyotoa tacoma, and im not sure exactly what amp he needs so can you guys help us out that would be great. And one more thing does it matter if its a d2 or a d4 sub? If so whats the difference and would he need another battery to power the sub thanks

Yes. It matters a lot whether it is dual 2 or dual 4 - as your wiring options would be for 1 or 2 ohms. You need to match the power output of the amplifier to how your sub is wired. If you are wired to 1 ohm, get an amp that does the power you need at 1. If you are wired at 2 ohms, get an amp that does the power you need at 2. If he is only going to run 800 watts, all he should need to do is upgrade the big 3 :)

Let me also say that although I don't think he need to upgrade the battery, it can never hurt. Generally, you want to upgrade to the biggest AGM battery you can fit

See above post. Both will sound the same. Only difference is what amp you will need to give the sub proper power ;)

Im thinking that most of the sub amps out there now are rated at full RMS power at 1ohm. Is this correct? If so, wouldnt it be easier for the OP to find a mono class D sub amp for a D2 sub? Dunno for sure, just my .03cents.

And SnowDrifter is right by sayin you NEED to upgrade the Big Three, or you can burn out your electrical with a big amp. I did that to my vw back in '87 in east oakland at 11pm at night. Bumpin all over east 14th and then the smoke came billowing out of the dash. I had about 3k worth of audio gear in the car and was in the worst area in the bay. Im a big believer in the big three now!! hth
