RyanJ Posted January 5, 2013 Report Posted January 5, 2013 What's up guys. Hope y'all New Years went well. So I was bored and I decided to look up on google why people scratch their guns SN off, but most of the answers addressed the consequences (felonies) and how it is illegal. I know guns before the 1968 law or whatever didnt require serial numbers but people still have them scratched off today. Pretty much , why do people scratch the SN off of guns ? So if they use it in crime, the police can't track it ? Or if it was a registerd gun, they can't retrace the original owner ? RyanJ Posted January 5, 2013 Author Report Posted January 5, 2013 stolen guns, and it carries a hefty penalty if caught with one... yeah I figured. But if it a stolen gun with it scratched off, there's no way they can retrace it to who it was stolen from ?
