poorfish88
I have a 2001 Nissan Frontier 2.4L with a factory 80 amp alt. The alt for all it's life till now would charge around 14.2 to 13.96 hot. Now out of now where it's charging hot 15.01 to 14.66 at 2k rpm. It drops to the high 13s to low 14s at idle. Anyone else ever hear of this? I'm thinking maybe the voltage regulator is getting ready to die, or maybe a batt is dead. I have 2 batts one front one rear both AGM. CHEVY4X4BLAZER
Regulator may be on its way out. How's it doing cold?
poorfish88
Thanks for the reply, I haven't checked cold yet I'll post result later. Btw the alt jumped again to a new high 15.09 hot around 2k. I did some shopping for a couple of minutes, when I started the truck some of the dummy lights were on. One was the battery light and the other AT fluid hot, checked the voltage at idle 12.36 WTF. A minute later the volts are back up to the high 14s into the 15s, and the dummy lights turned off.
