JZeFF Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 Hey guys, i have a weird request... Last time i removed my HU from the dash the light green wire got stuck on something and got pulled out of the molex connector that plugs into the radio. Apparently the light green wire had something to do with disabling settings while the car was in drive... because now the car thinks its always in drive, i cant change any settings, pair up bluetooth devices, or much of anything really. If i can find which hole the light green wire is supposed to go in i can probably re-seat it into the connector, but i havent been able to find a good diagram or picture of the actual harness. Can anyone help me out? Someone have a x920bt that just happens to not be installed? I need a detailed picture of the wiring harness or something, lol. I could just buy a new harness to see where it is supposed to go, but that is my last resort. Ryya Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 The light green wire is your parking brake wire, and when it's not seeing any voltage it locks you out of most of your settings. I checked the manual and I couldn't find a single thing that would help. I'm pretty sure the 920BT has the same harness as the Z120BT, and if that's the case it looks to me like it is the 4th pin on the bottom left. Is that pin open on the connector? Ryya Posted January 9, 2013 Report Posted January 9, 2013 And here's a pic of the X920Bt which looks to be the same. You can see the lower fourth pin looks to be that light green color. My Build Log - 2003 Volkswagen Jetta GLI VR6 2.8L
Pioneerchuck Posted January 10, 2013 Report Posted January 10, 2013 It might just be worth it to spend the couple bucks buying a new harness just to not have to deal with the pain of trying to figure out where it goes and the possibility that the clip on the inside might break.
JZeFF Posted January 22, 2013 Author Report Posted January 22, 2013 I haven't gotten around to doing anything about this yet, but all of this information will definitely be helpful. I was looking for pictures similar to those but i was having a hard time finding any. I may end up purchasing a new one, i was just really hoping to avoid re-soldering everything in this weather. Pioneerchuck Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 If you have the harness that goes from the factory plug to the plug for the deck you shouldn't need to solder outside, you can do it right in your house. Then just plug the aftermarket side into the deck and the factory adapter into the factory harness.
