Polish Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 I tried the MAX8 before getting my current 4 MAX10D's. I only had one, had it sealed at .4 cu/ft. It sounded good, especially considering how cheap it was but certainly wasn't loud on 200wrms. It also didn't get very low, the FS of the speaker is 42.9hz so I think tuning it higher would help for pure spl. It didn't seem to like lows at all in my experience but a good ported box might convince it otherwise. My 10's do great with the lows, box is tuned to 33hz but the FS for my 10's is 28.4hz. FYI - the plastic magnet cover is glued on minimally, I had 2 come pre-removed on my 10's. So I popped the other two off, I could see them rattling otherwise. CleanSierra Posted January 19, 2013 Report Posted January 19, 2013 If you're gonna dedicate .75 cubes ported for each, that adds up to 2.25 cubes total. I probably wouldn't give them TOO much air because you'll want some cone control. Where are you putting these subs in your vehicle and what vehicle? Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Polish Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 How much power are you gonna throw at them? I only have 400wrms on my 4 10's right now, looking to triple/quadruple that very soon. They are pretty efficient, even with only the 400 I can flex the windshield and make my mirror fall easily. I have them in 4.4 cubes after port/woofer displacement for what it's worth.
