Square Port area?

Trying to figure out something.

I understand aero ports and a lot of people day like 7-9" per foot.

I understand slot ports and average for those is 14-16 per foot.

What I don't get is the square ports that are stuck into the side of the box and are half or more than half external.

I get how to make it and tune it and everything, but what port area do I want? Are they as efficient as Aero's or are they somewhere in between?

Let's say you target 6 cubes net then if using the minimum recommended 9 square inches per cube (for aero ports) then 6x9 = 54 square inches of port is what you would need and it can be implemented with 2 6" aero ports.

In case of a slot then if your target net volume is 6 cubic feet then 6x14 = 84 square inches of port would be minimum necessary, well using that rule of thumb anyways.
