afrakes Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 I just bought an 04 Chevy Blazer LS 4x4 and im thinking about putting a small lift kit on it. By small I mean 2, possibly 3 inches max. The main reason I will be lifting is to get a little bit more clearance as I ski, love camping, and I mud from time to time. I have never owned my own truck nor worked on anything related to lifts/drops, etc. I guess first of all, what are some of the possible complications of puting a lift on a truck like this? it is pretty narrow so I figured becoming more prone to roll would be a primary issue. Is there anything else I need to consider buying to support the lift? The main questions I have are what are some brands to look for/stay away from? How much should I be expecting to pay just for the parts? How saavy do I need to be to do the install myself (I have a few family friends that have done an airbag system before that I wired, but never a straight lift)? Am I looking at more work/a higher price to do this because it is a 4x4 as compare to an RWD vehicle? If so, by how much? Finally, how much of a difference will 2-3 inches make on my vehicle in terms of looks, performance, and the tire size I can fit on it? I just need general advice, and I have no idea where to even start so I figured I'd ask the guys that have helped me answer so many questions in the past. If you guys think this is a dumb/stupid idea, just let me know. Same goes for the opposite. Thanks... purpnurp Posted January 27, 2013 Report Posted January 27, 2013 If you want to go cheap get some shackles to lift the rear and crank your torsion bars. Yes cranking the bars puts wear on your front end. But its a cheap lift. I have shackle/tbar lift on my 2000 Blazer ZR2 and haven't had any issues. SImple enough one or two guys can do it in a couple hours. Like the others said check out blazerforum.com im on there as well. Good luck with your build! Like to see pics!!
