battery to voltage question

ok so burn away on me for this one ha.

so i have a 2002 tacoma and my new build is going to consist of a bug center console box w/ either a hdc315d2 or a mayhem15d2 with an aq2200.1, i have a no name amp for my highs i think its like a 200.4.

now for my question, not sure how much alternator im gonna need or a second battery will be efficient?

also i see alot of the power ratings on the amps are at 14v, do you have to have a special battery for 14v?

im new to all this and have always thought that cars are 12v?

12v charges at 14.4v.

14v charges at 16.8v.

16v charges at like 19v.

ok so if you keep your charge good to your battery and replace what your using you should be getting 14.4v to your amp?

On a typical electrical system you battery is approx. 12v. Your alternator charges approx. 14.4 volts (this varies between automakers and also from car to car to some extent).

With you car off you stereo will run from the battery(ies) at 12ish volts.

With your car running you stereo will run off of the alternator at 14.4ish volts.

Dont jam your stereo with the car off.

Those are the bare basics.
