Daddiboiz Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 I have a large trunk (02 Chrysler Concorde) and am going to be running 2 Xcon 15s on a saz-3500d, i mainly listen to rap/hip hop, but do listen to rock and country also. Which would be most efficient and sound best over large range, regular ported box facing rear, or maybe a 4th order firing thru ski hole in rear seat or back deck off glass.
Jessica Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 well for a fourth order you are looking at 8cuft to 12cuft for the ported side not even counting the port and speaker displacement Plus another 4cuft for the sealed side. Are you sure you have 16cuft of space to work with in your trunk. Are you ready to build the box in the trunk? Because I am looking at the trunk lid for that car and i don't think you will put a 16cuft box through that opening. I can't really help you design a box, I could design a basic ported enclosure but if you really want help you need to post some dimensions of your trunk and maybe a couple pictures of what it looks like in there. Rest in peace, walled 87 accord build log 03' Corolla build with AA Mayhem inside. My super random youtube channel and terrible camera work. Daddiboiz Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 About 41w 23d 17h. That is leaving a little room to mount amp to floor and battery box etc.
Joe X Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 Barely a tight ported box 3.1 cubes net per sub and two 6" aero ports (low port area) would fit, optimal for those subs is 4 cubes net per sub. Any bandpass box excluded.
Daddiboiz Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 Alright, then next question, would i get more output going with the 12" in optimal?
Joe X Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 If you managed to get 3.5 cubes per sub and a proper port I would still go with the 15s. If you can't spare any space then I would need back to you later to answer the question.
Joe X Posted February 5, 2013 Report Posted February 5, 2013 18 1/4 x 41 x 25 1/4 would manage 3.34 cubes per sub and 33Hz tuning and 104 square inches of port area, it's a good average spec for those subs and will play well.
Daddiboiz Posted February 5, 2013 Author Report Posted February 5, 2013 So i guess back to the 12 vs 15 debate. Easily fit a optimal 12" enclosure or squeeze in 15" enclosure which is going to take airspace away from trunk area. The 12 would be optimal and have more air available to move, vs cone area of the 15
