Got some more stuffs done.

I got the passenger side of the wires ran back. (RCA's and right speaker wires) After that I got everything cleaned up. I put techflex on a whole group of wires that would go into the trunk. (Driver side was the power and vm wires) (Passenger side was all speakers wires and RCA's) That way when I go to great foam that gap up, the wires won't get all crappy. Plus it keeps them all nice and neat going into the trunk.

I knew there is some kind of sticky backed zip tie for this situation, but I said screw it, electrical tape will work...

I then started working on the battery rack. I made a cardboard cut out of the max flat area I had in the spare tire well.

SDC13847_zps7a766dbc.jpg

I then got side tracked and was trying to figure out how the amps would work out. I had three options basically.

first cons: Mounting and looks meh

SDC13848_zps9189e2b9.jpg

second cons: mounting, tight fit, wiring will look a bit sloppy

SDC13849_zpsa61d9965.jpg

SDC13850_zpsa42d6637.jpg

the third was to have them stacked in front of the battery. the con there was that if I needed to adjust a setting I would have to take an amp out. so I said screw that.

I will end up going with the second option probably.

I started on the battery rack again. I angled the bottom so it would fit more snug.

SDC13851_zps25e92ade.jpg

Got it to fit on the first try ftw! :D I also traced the battery to mock the rack up.

SDC13852_zps150f8277.jpg

Nice 'n' snug - it was all screwed in from the bottom/back. It isn't glued yet.

I went to get the damn thing out and it wasn't coming out without me doing this and shaking it a bit so I could get the handle.

SDC13856_zpsabb36cf6.jpg

I also will not be gluing the small front pieces of the battery rack, and will be screwing them from the top, so that if there ever is a problem with the batt, I would have to rip out the whole box and everything just to get the bat out.

I am extremely impressed with the handle on the d3100. It's hard to believe that how small it is could support 75lbs. I was waiting for it to snap when I was walking up stairs with it and it didn't. I could feel it flex a bit, but nothing near of what I thought it to be. It blew my mind. Also, needless to say I got a great work out putting in and lifting out that heavy sob from the trunk. It sure did man handle my skinny ass.

Thanks! Yeah, wish they didn't change their name, but oh well. I will just have to be careful not to pop a woofer, I rather have all AQ logo'd equipement :)

Finally got the deck carpeting off today. Lot more holes in it than I expected. Tomorrow I will be fabbing up some mdf or some kind of adapter to cover up 6x9 holes. 3/4" might be too tall.

If you had 14sq ft of deadener, where would you say the big spots to get are? sheets are 2sqft

I was thinking

1 sheet for each front door

1 for rear deck

2 for roof

Edit: not sure of the other 2

Got the mdf covers made up, but first I worked on the box a bit today.

I got the screw holes predrilled for the side beauty panels. Both sides are predrilled.

SDC13866_zpse47058b6.jpg

I did some practicing on a scrap piece of wood to make sure I would be able to make the holes snug enough on the speaker wire for the subs. It's 8ga speaker wire.

SDC13871_zpsb44af34c.jpg

Repeating that on the box.

Smacked the screw with a hammer to leave an indent for the bit to get started on, so that it didn't squirrel around on the mdf.

SDC13874_zps4221ffef.jpg

Used a smaller drill bit so that it would guide the larger one and so that it wouldn't feel the need to pop into the other hole.

Bam!

SDC13879_zps28a1418b.jpg

SDC13872_zps72dd16c0.jpg

I will be caulking when the actual wire goes in.

Here's the mdf speaker hole cover. I just traced the speaker onto a piece of mdf and then used a band saw to cut it out. It was the scrap from the cut out of the baffle :)

SDC13860_zpsef8d8fcd.jpg

Here's how its gonna be sealed. Thanks for SlamminBeats for showing me this stuff. It's also the stuff I will be using around the side beauty panels of the box.

SDC13863_zps15ea1365.jpg

Drove the screws straight through the center of the foam rope. Got it snug, and lined all the rope up. Then I really torqued it down.

SDC13864_zpsa6ef2295.jpg

SDC13861_zpsbbd47f6b.jpg

Sure did squeeze out. I will be snipping those screws off later. Don't want to risk scratching the amps.

Well I spray painted the inside of the box today. Ended up not liking how the paint was glossy on the glue spots, so I ended up sanding it back down and putting primer on. Which I should have done in the first place. Oh well.

SDC13887_zpsa32b63c3.jpg

SDC13886_zps6364698d.jpg

Sanded and primerd the port.

SDC13888_zpsefe0c109.jpg

Started cutting the carpet for the box, it will have to be put on the box once it's in the trunk, will be a challenge.

SDC13884_zps07440b37.jpg

I put the battery rack in the trunk permanently. Pretty much broke the camera because it was in my pocket when I went to put that heavy ass battery in. I fixed it and will get more pictures of it later.

Here's the picture of the battery rack. The white stuff is wood glue. I was going to glue those two pieces in, but then decided if I ever had to remove the battery, it would be a huge pita. Now I can just unscrew those pieces, and bend the metal piece.
