I seriously learned a lot through trial and error, most store brand 12 inch woofers Ive ran can drastically benefit from being in an enclosure about 0.5- 1.5 cu ft larger than the manufacturers recommended specs, you just have to be sure the vent mach, aka port velocity stays in a certain range and you wont have power handling issues.
