Benjamin Amparo Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 so i just purchased the jbl p660c, havent installed yet but i was hoping to get some input on tweeter location. i drive a 98 honda civic lx(not ex) and the car has no stock location for tweeters. i was hoping to get some ideas from maybe other civic owners or people with no stock tweet location. i have zero experience with fiberglassing and feel like i would probably suck at it. if any one has any suggestions they'll be greatly appreciated thanks. 97 Lexus ES 300 Source: clarion cs702 Front stage: faital pro 6fe200, seas prestige 27tafnc/g Subs: soundqubed hds212 x2 Amp: mids and highs PPI P900.4. subs Alpine MRP-M850
Carbon Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 Doors, kicks, pillars, dash. Anywhere. Just hook them up and hold them in various places. Everyone will tell you different locations. Its all up to personal taste and what your goal is. Open door demos, Great sealed sound stage etc. Its all in what suits you best man!
Benjamin Amparo Posted February 19, 2013 Author Report Posted February 19, 2013 i probably want them high in doors or on the a pillars but my problem is mounting them, any suggestions on a way to mount them without glassing 97 Lexus ES 300 Source: clarion cs702 Front stage: faital pro 6fe200, seas prestige 27tafnc/g Subs: soundqubed hds212 x2 Amp: mids and highs PPI P900.4. subs Alpine MRP-M850
bcbrassard Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 If your A pillars are wide enough you can get the right diameter hole saw drill bit and drill them out with the pillars off. drill size around 1 3/8" but sould be in mounting direction as to the dimension of the tweeter(diameter & depth) and they can can be glue in with like gorilla glue or an epoxy. I've seen videos of SMD doing it. I have been told by some installers that the tweeter mounted closer to the mid driver helps them work together for better sound quality. My mid is in the bottom of the front doors of my Lancer and mounted the Tweeter by drilling a 1 3/8" hole in the the only flat spot on the panel that worked and it ended up being 13" from center of mid driver and doesnt sound as good as it should due to seperation. Local installer suggested using time alignment onn my DEH-80PRS to make the sound stage better. Running T265 components Bi-amped and powered be a RF T400-4, Doors sound deadened on outer skin and panel side. Much tuning to be done to make it sound better after i install DEH-80PRS. Plus going from a passive system to active for more power & tunability. Good luck buddy.
