  1. I start work Monday so progress will be even slower. I did start the Malibu at the beginning of the week, she fired right up and I let it get to temp to run for 15 minutes.
  2. I put the back corner panels in. Wires have loom on them and the Damp Pro is Velcro around the edges. Rear Seat Frame and belts installed. That is as far as i will go with the rear seat assembly to be able to get to the wires just in case. WOW what a leap from where i was last week. I love it, work on HU and dash install tomorrow.
  3. Good progress tonight. Trunk roof panel. Slid sub back to get panels in. By sliding the sub around to get side panels in i didn't have to pull it. With it in place i took measurements to cut a piece of Second skin Pro to cover the floor. And i drilled holes to mount sub. This shit is thick stuff. Not sure if was needed but it's in now. God that feels good to have that done. Been a long time coming. I will use Velcro around the top edge to get it as close to the enclosure as i can. And Fuck ya that feels good to have in. Good days work, string a few more of those together and i can finish the rear seats, install HU, charge battery's to fire car up. driving it by next weekend... possible. Right to the car was to run thru a couple times. and to fill up with some good gas.
  4. Thanks man. You have shared some of that before and I have thought of it ever since. Honoring what we had to not marry again. It is sad my wife stopped trying, she knows she ran and feels horrible. I forgive her and am here for her. It's all can do beside move on. The build will gain momentum, remember this was kinda supposed to be my retirement project. Lol I am acting like it. Ha ha thanks again man!
  5. Thanks man! Didn't see you had commented, i hope your shit is better than mine. lol I am way better than i was last sunday when i found out my wife went to Maui with her lover over V Day and the next day was our anniversary. She lied and said she was going with friends. Oh well. Ya i have to get this done for me. The Lancer has a bad lifter so really babying it and just need to get the Malibu at least driving with rear fill playing while i finish the trunk. No tunes what suck a dick so thats the goal,
  6. Update: After a week of not looking at it, & -1 with wind chilly i decided not to go anywhere this weekend. I can keep the Malibu slide over and pull the Lancer out to work on it. Parts rooms are a mess so i cleaned basement first. Not too bad but i had to clean it up. Haven't touched downstairs in 2 weeks. Much better. Haven't seen this for awhile. I pulled all the equipment out to start putting factory panels in tomorrow. Installed passenger seat, kick panel, console panel & dash end panel. Kona loves sitting in the car now. lol I like it. It feels good to have something done after struggling for months. Feeling better about my situation and going to get these projects done so when spring and the work season start i can get out and start dating or at the least fuckin. 99.5% sure our marriage is over. Won't do that again! lol Rear Deck Dash Pad installed. Now to slide the sub around to get the roof and 2 side panels back in. Then the sub can be mounted to the body. More tomorrow!
  7. Yesterdays updates: Still working on wiring. HU harness mainly and all cables to and from HU. Just mocking up dash to see how it looks. Cut that piece out for more room to manage wiring. Pac interface all done. Few more cables to run, then work on rear deck and start charging battery for a test run in the next couple of days. Really bummed today with it being V-day and my anniversary tomorrow so i hope to plow thru the next couple days and feel better by mid week. ALONE sucks, i married to have a life partner and she left me. Left me alone, forget our commitment to each other and god. She just fuckin left me. And can't even imagine how she could do that.
  8. Yesterdays Progress: I started working on remote knob installation. And this is what i ended up with. A very functional but ugly arrangement. There just wasn't the time or place for a better solution so this will have to do. I will look at ordering a new GM piece this spring for when i sell the car down to road if ever! lol Another look. I had to modify the sound deadening to have panel fit properly and i put a strip of velcro on the bottom to help it adhere to the carpet. Cleaned and back on. Cleaned up the floor vents and under the dash. Leds on! Pretty happy with how this all turned out for winging it, lol Driver side received the same attention for fitment. I really tried to sound deaden this area as much as possible. Everything close to ear shot got extra attention. I am sure areas will need addressed down the road. Dash and rear deck are the goals for today. Leaving passenger seat out until last for more room to work up front.
  9. My wife is and always has been my best friend. I dont understand exactly what she is going thru but I know my mid life crisis was bad. Something in side you changes, belief, maturity, spirituality, physically, mentally. Fucks with you. I will be the second to know how it all plays out if I am lucky! Lol
  10. Todays Update: Center console is done, front seat and cover in. Remote knob layout done. Tomorrow, knobs and pass seat done. products i am using. Hell ya been 2 years since this seat has been in. Stupid small shit one forgets. Installed this 3 times. Mainly tired now. every 2 hours i stop and walk the dogs, snack , ect. Car could be running soon.
  11. Yesterdays Updates: Bought a product to protect and shine. First product was a cleaner. After a hour and half i got both doors and pillar panel. Console not done. Clean this shit up good as it goes back in. I love this look, i came up with spotlighting the sub or light at the bottom for illumination. Here i have cut a piece of CCF for the console to help with road noise. I cut it the same size as the panel. Removed front bolt to get CCF in place and bolted it back together. Hopefully driver seat in today so i can mount remote knobs and switch.
  12. Yesterday updates: Working on center console electrical, and everything else up front. wire management for putting panels back on. Clean ass channel if you ask me lol First panel to go back in for a long time now. Cleaning up wiring for center console to go in. Another look under dash. Console in but not mounted. I was getting froggy and forgot carpet on passenger side. the cabin is going to start getting real small soon.
  13. Hey thanks for all the love guys. Much appreciated. Life is going better, last weekend was hard but not so much this weekend. It will all work out. My goal was to get the malibu running before my wife got back from Hawaii. She went for 9 days and i am watching the step son. Interior pieces going in soon. Updates coming soon
  14. Thats a awesome description, fits me to the T. Lol At almost 50 I can do 4-6 hours and am good. Slow ass build but best i can do right now as well. Great build keep up the progress.
  15. wiring harness for SMD VM-1 & TM-1 hooked up. All cleaned Playing with these locations for knobs. LEDs on and working. night time.
  16. Thanks man! Almost 50 and starting over is not what i had i mind this year. I think i got the Lancer fixed.
  17. Swapped out the SHCA for a SMD fuse holder. My OCD is worth $20. Much better look imo. The wife moved out so plenty of storage for car parts. Now i can clean them up for install soon. Maybe, Who the fuck knows! I cleaned up the garage to move the Malibu over for the Lancer. See if i can find the issue with it.
  18. Yesturday & Todays upgrades: Finally got the new seat belt system in after 1 1/2 yrs. Funny this was it retracted all the way putting the new one in lock out. Figured out to to unlock it used the original mechanisms. Zipped tied it so it wouldn't happen again. original in lock out mode Yellow piece with ball bearing come off. Out all the way. Testing the LEDs. Driver side panel mounted. I will just tackle one thing at a time until i can drive it and the same when i finish the system
  19. Update: Interior panel sound treatment. All the materials necessary for treating the panels for a quiet ride is the goal. Sound skins, second skins, foam gasket material, Tesa tape, Velcro, Gorilla Tape. 1st panel done. I covered all the panels, of course i will add more of what ever it takes during installation to make it the best i can. I am going to miss the shit out of this yapper. Our first dog and she has a personality you wouldn't believe. Progress is slow with a heavy heart, packing up there stuff in the evenings is hard but only a couple days left until they leave. Then there will be no distractions here to slow me down.
  20. Personal Note: 2021 has started the way 2020 ended. The wife and step kids move out Saturday, And my lancer died last Thursday. Packing up there belongings for movers. This was the wife's decision, she wants time and space according to her to figure out what she wants. at this point whatever, i have spent 10 months working on myself, doing for the family, letting her bum of a 26 yrs addict-alcoholic live with us. All to help but in the end shes gone and time for me to move on. Build progress: With the lancer down i am working on getting interior back in, harnesses plugged in to fire up the Malibu. Its time for a change for me too and i would like to drive a nicer car. I can always work on it in the garage and drive it without a system and look at the Lancer Later. Progress pics: Interior Parts sound deadening. Working on center console to minimize rattles. I had to take it apart as much as possible to add mass and stuff CCF in as many places i thought would help. Like here between the compartment boxes and otter skin. The fuse box panel cover on the right i cut a piece of ccf to cover fuse labeling. i used Velcro to attach the ccf to the panel so it is removable to see the chart. Back of center console. There was a hole here for a rubber stopper for cup holder tray. Now its a LED light for back passanger to see there drink in the rear cup holders. I can put the rubber stopper on on the tray and should work perfectly the same. Hush Panel for driver side under dash. I am putting a couple layers on because i can. So i did. Finished product on hush panel, turned out pretty good. On the bottom is dash board end caps with treatment. Closer look at them. I am putting Tesa tape on all metal clips to reduce rattling. I don't know how long it will take to finish but i promise i am in no rush. I have come to far to cut corners now. Plus with the house to myself besides Kona i should be able to make more progress than with little distractions. Daily updates now. And as always thank you SMD community for your support on both audio & personal events. It helps!
  21. time to address this. Lol This is in to check wire lengths and make adjustments now, Slowly coming together. I will hang this cover tomorrow and wire up the SMD VM and Tm.
  22. Temp mounted for 4 awg run lengths. Led on. Pos & neg runs on during mock up Grounding. I think i will get the sub in tomorrow to keep mocking up for wrie lengths & location.
  23. I found out 2 days before Christmas the wife rented another apartment, signed a 6 month lease. I was so hoping she would stay. Anyway had the best holidays possible and now diving back into the build. Last couple of days i have been able to get a lot of the electrical run. I think i could be close to wrapping it up by New Years Eve. Passenger side channel with wiring. Two long cables go to the JL and RF remote knobs in center console. Driver side mess getting cleaned up. Routing wires where they need to go. Routed to center console with LED wires. Passenger side mids & highs speakers runs. Looks like the plug-ins will be in this cubby hole. Low voltage wire on the right. High voltage on the left. Vacuumed car clean in this pic. Added 4 awg run for under glove box distribution. SHCA fuse block, didn't have a SMD but might have to get one down the road so it all matches. 4 awg run to under glove box, still need to put loom on it and finish it up. More pics tomorrow with electrical being finished up.
  24. Relay wiring harness(Not Done) Driver side LED plug. Got the wiring and lights on the driver hush panel. I know i am just slapping lights on and not doing anything real custom. I have a vision and it really helps to power them up when fabrication is going on. LED wiring on the back. I will foam this piece before re-installing it. Here i cut the foam to tuck the wires into it. 1, to protect them. 2, its cool. Tesa tapped the cut line to help keep the wires in. Seams to have worked as long as you leave it like this. Ha Ha Relay wired up and labeled. I have plenty of remote turn on make it to the HU and i will have to have another run of remote turn on heading back to the Sparks Innovations relay to run everything in the rear. Once all positive & negative runs are on, these covers go on. Then 4 or 8 awg wire will be run to the distribution blocks. I have no idea how i can up with this. I want a set up that will accommodate future needs and changes. I do think i spent more time on it than it was worth. I had a spaghetti mess of wiring that was really fucking with my ocd. I had to stop and think about how i wanted to stack the wires up in the channel, longer on the bottom with shortest run on top. I really have tried to make it look cool and be functional. I knew this was going to be slow but i am just getting in my own way now by over thinking every step but thats who i am.
