DC Power 320A Alternator massive voltage drop ???

Recommended Posts

(Hey Kyle sorry I missed your call I was busy doing the stuff mentioned below :) I'll call you back in a short while!)

Ok so I put the old belt on and did the test again, this time with my clamp meter hooked up as well. Firstly, the clamp meter and analog gauge on the load tester were pretty much the same. Now what is crazy and sure baffles me is that with the OLD belt and the car at about 2000 rpms I was able to register approx. 305A at approx. 12.5V ...

Does this sound more like it now? Maybe the Dayco belt is the issue... btw the old belt is a Goodyear.

a lot of people with multiple alt setups recommend the gates belt with the green stripe. apparently they're tough as shit and grip really well.

i dont know if thats the exact name or something, but i distinctly remember the belt having a green stripe/coloring to it.
