**SQ system**

That's more do-able on a budget. For $2,000 I would skip sound processing outright, if you are doing the install worry mainly about proper deadening and cable routing through your vehicle. Run a component set active for your front stage if it can be helped; again I like JBL and I think Rockford speakers have a killer sound too. Picking components is mostly up to you and your vehicle, we can give suggestions but it depends on what you want out of your system. With a lower wattage build you may extract more "SQ" for your cash so try to strike a balance between loud and clean. Distortion and rattles are the enemy of SQ in most installs, staging and time alignment are other battles but they are a bit easier to tackle. Make sure you test different tweeter placement and purchase a head unit with some hot pre-outs and built-in time alignment because that will save you a lot of money on signal gear.

i agree with the rockford speakers their in my dads truck (coaxials) but they still sound amazing running off hu power from a pioneer double din not sure on model but close to top of the line ones but still sounds damn good for a cheapish system from the little i know about sq that amount of money is just scraping the surface. Good luck bro

My setup,

Digital Designs M80

3 Re audio 10's ported tuned to 36 hz

Kenwood x-696

SHCA 0 gauge

Polk audio coax running off hu

You surly can do a good clen good sounding small system for 2 K, if you do enough searches to hold your budget.

So first try to spend your 2 grand. Frontsystem http://www.ebay.com/itm/280958500684?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 RF top notch compsystem

3-400 $ under regular price. http://www.ebay.com/itm/REF4-760-SOUNDSTREAM-AMP-4-CH-760W-SPEAKER-AMPLIFIER-/130420710309?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item1e5dae1ba5

Absolute lowest price i found on the ref 4.760 them on sell out since longer time, well known SQ amps. http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9976-8w7ae-jl-audio-8-single-3-ohm-w7-subwoofer.aspx JL Audio 8 inch sub. Pair of Focal coax for the rear http://www.woofersetc.com/p-10160-ic-165-focal-integration-65-2-way-coaxial-speakers.aspx.

As H/U a Pioneer DEHH 80 PRS.

Channel 1 and 2 to the RF comp´s, 3 and 4 bridged to the sub, the coaxes can live with very low power and for a good sound you need only a rear fill, and that is little in caraudio.

That looks good man. Would I need that big box with the T5's if I'm running active? And I need an amp that can fit under my seat. And what would you say to power the sub?

It depends on the amplifier you choose, many SQ amps are capable of an active setup with their built-in crossover. Check the crossover points on those components (what frequency to cross them at and how, bandpass, high pass, low pass etc.) and see if the amplifier of your choosing is appropriate. The main thing you need on a built-in crossover for active capabilities is a multiplier switch, usually a x10 multiplier. That way a 400Hz setting is 4KHz when the switch is flipped etc.

Measure under your seat and begin hunting. Look at the Focal Solid 4, it is a very small and powerful amp that would meet your SQ demands but I believe it would require an external crossover.

Running active under the seat??? The reference series have a very big foot print, in opinion to there very nice price. No you wouldnt need the big box (passive cross over´s).

It isn´t easy to give you advice for your system if we haven´t all fact´s of your need´s and dont´s. If you want to run active you have anoter post of $$$ in your build and you have

to save on the other item´s and you need a sub amp too.

I stay to my guess, go the passiv route, you didn´t want or have the budget to build a active SQ system, you will allway´s start to save on the wrong side if you go active. I think in the next time Cable Guy will chime in and can give you a oportunity.

I think Cable Guy will chime in, in the next time he can give you advice to Blues car audio http://bluescaraudio.com/ speaker´s, maby they can live with lesser power than the RF´s and the JL sub.
