i want to know how you guys make a proper test bench. i just want to test out a head unit i know that red and yellow go together and black is ground. i just want to connect the head unit to a car battery or a jumper box for short testing. do i need to add an inline fuse or is it not required?

i got an pioneer avh-x1500dvd

i just want to know what is the safest route so nothing breaks and this is the best place to ask.

The main 12v line. Fuse it to whatever that h/u has specified in the owners manual.
