hhowell1990
I just ordered an SA-8D4 and currently have a punch P300-1 that I'm going to replace with a bigger amp since it won't quite match the RMS of the sub. I'm thinking about a P1000-1bd. Would this amp be too much for this sub? If so is there another amp someone would suggest? I'd prefer RF to keep as much of my equipment in my truck the same as possible. Box will be 1.03 net and tuned to 35 Hz
Sonic
It will be fine, set your gain appropriately.
hhowell1990
It will be fine, set your gain appropriately. Thanks. I was thinking it would be okay from the amounts of power i've seen people put to them, just making sure.
Sonic
How much are you buying the P1000-1bd for?
CleanSierra
It's a D4 so you'll only be running a 2 ohm load anyway. great amp for that Quote Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Sonic
If you are not going to upgrade your sub later for a higher rated rms sub @ 1 ohm, then for about the same price and wattage at 2 ohms you may want to consider the T500-1bdCP which is smaller compact and the higer line than the punch series amp and have the same rating at 2 ohms. brad4021
agreed, T5001 is a power house and you can find them for a great deal. I have seen people run 2 p3's no problem with this amp (maybe a little under powered for this but it still got down in a ported box)
hhowell1990
I'm going to buy the amp from sonic, i would have bought a d2 sub, but i found someone selling one that was d4 for cheaper than i could find it online
Sonic
Either amp would be fine, and thats a great place to buy.
03 Xtreme Fosgate
Don't let the Punch series fool ya,they're pretty stout their selves. I had one on 2 T2's for 5 years in my truck and it would work those subs. Either amp is a good choice so either way you'll be good. I like the punch amps and SE is a great place to buy them, got my T400.4 and T600.4 from them on Ebay and a lot of my other stuff from their site Quote BUILD LOG-http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179004-03-s10-xtreme-ext-cab-rf-build/ PHOTOBUCKET- http://s1354.beta.photobucket.com/user/03XtremeFosgate/library/truck%20audio%20rebuild
