As far as batteries. Would I defiantly need 2. Or could I get away with one upgraded one under the hood with a HO alt. And I'm kinda on a budget. So what battery would be the best? If it will make a significant difference I will pay the extra.

You could probably do with just a D3100 under the hood if you can fit, but you will have some voltage drop then.

Look at it this way, if you don't give it all the power you can your cheating yourself. Everyone wants a big ass amp and sub but they never want to invest the money into feeding them lol. Any one of us on that amp would run at least 1 batt in the back. Amps are way more expensive to replace or fix than just adding a 200 dollar battery to the back. Hell sams club has a Duracell AGM for 100 bucks or so

2 3400s would cost you like $500 I think. 1 upfront and 1 in the back. 300 amp alt and big 3 as well as both amps grounded to the frame and then you should be set. Sure you could run a DC 12k off a stock electrical system but then you just paid all this money for this big ass amp and you're getting like 1000 watts from it.

Well I want to do this right but with the mechman 240 or 320 (which would you suggest? ) the d3400 and the d3100 I'm looking at at least $750

I would recommend the 320. For a d3100 and 3400 you'd be looking at about $630.

Not trying to discourage you but rather prevent another fried amp or recone thread lol. And call around and get prices on an alt, try Mike singer, mechman, xs, dc power and do the same with batteries. Check the sale threads here, can usually get a hell of a deal on batteries there, few alts there as well.
