Someone I know built my box for me, he's built loads including his own which sounds great with 6x JBL GTO's, hits much harder than mine and they're pushing a lot less RMS - Sub wise

Without them my subs barely even make the rear view mirror vibrate, with them I just see blurred lights and number plates - good thing. I'll have a play around with the settings on the amp soon with the bass boost off to see if it helps

Once you set your gains properly you wont need to use the bass boosts. Normally bass boosts just cause a clipped signal when your gains are set right.

Thanks for that, I'll play the 40hz tone and try to set the gain using my ears for a rough setting until I can get someone with a DD1.

those subs are dual 1.2ohms so one sub in parallel is at half ohm 2 subs parallel quarter ohm. hence the heat . the amp been going into protect? you need 4 1 ohm amps or 2 half ohm amps

If you want one amp buy a orion digital reference 250. its like 3k rms at quarter ohm and is the only quarter ohm amp I know of granted it will run you about 300-500. NO sundown crescendo or skar ect.... amp is quarter ohm stable.

And yes your smelling amp not vc or glue . your lucky that amp hasnt melted or fried the fets or messed the subs up even... I bet you could scramble eggs on that amp after use.

OP. not looking like that amp will do over even 1500 watts under 12v honestly. i USE to run ....... 2 opti1233d. @ 4 ohm on a AP3k and i upgraded my amp to an optidrive6k. and i am running into the same problem. but still have it wired @ 4 ohm. have to turn bass boost up on opti6k just for it to be as loud as the ap3k. BUT. while i was using my ap3k. my volt never really dropped below 13v and was banging.
