2x Lanzar Optidrive 1535D - not sure if burning VC or glue or my amp

I've just got into car audio since November '12 and as soon as I got my first car I got the following:

1x Lanzar Optidrive 1535D

1x Power Acoustik CPT1-5500D

Since then I've upgraded a lot, got 0 gauge all over (doing TB3 next weekend) and now have another 1535D. I have the 2 subs in a ported box tuned to 30 hz, and wired to 1.2 ohms.

Because I'm new to the scene I was enjoying my subs very much when the bass boost, but noticed a burning smell. Because I got my 2nd sub around a month ago, I thought that this was just the glue burning. However, I love the low bass on Late Nite Tip and Basstronics, songs like that so I keep it quite loud on my HU - on volume 27 (door speakers are stock, and they distort at around volume 31).

Because of this burning I turned the bass boost off and my gain is set to around 1/4. However, now there's hardly any bass at all. Wiring the PA amp to 1.2 ohms should give around 3k watts, but it's nowhere near this. My front wipers are barely moving now, and I'm really not happy with what my equipment is producing seeing as I spent around £750 on the subs and amp...

I'm going for SPL rather than SQ, and should be hitting much harder than I am now. I've resulted to setting the Bass Enhancer built in to the HU to level 2 (can go to 3) just because my subs are hardly moving with it on 1 or 0. With my bass boost the voltage was dropping to as low as 11.4 from 14.4, and I have 3x Yuasa lead-acid batteries to install when I get time. Right now it's dropping to around 13.8 so it's obviously not hitting really hard

I basically want to know how to get more out of my system for now without burning or damaging anything, going to buy a SAZ-3500D in about 6 months so want a lot of bass in the mean time.

Do not use bass boost, or any type of bas enhancer. That is more or less to reason why you smelled your subs. Invest in a DD-1 to tune your amps properly, if you can't afford one find soemone with one or a O-Scope and get your gains set properly. Also, it's Lanzar and Power Acoustik, don't expect the cheap stuff to put out like quality stuff does.

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

I can probably get a hold of a DD-1 to set the gain, but I thought that Lanzar Optidrive were pretty good. Not on the Sundown level, but still good - Can see a few youtube vids where 1 lanzar pounds whereas mine is small in comparison. The PA is cheap (realised last month) but still think I can get more somehow.

Just looked at my amp on my break and here's the settings it has:

Input Gain - Just above a 1/4

Subsonic Filter - Was set to around 45 hz, set this to around 26 now - read somewhere it should be 3/4 of your box tuned frequency

Bass Boost - 0

LPF - Just under a 1/4

Should I have the LPF on the amp aswell as the HU, or just 1?

lol, you do know that lanzar sub will fuck your skar up right?

to the op, first your gain set right with a dd1 or o scope and set the lpf to around 80hz and if that is still not enough look into a better amp, I love my crescendo's but if your on a budget get something like a lanzar opti 3500d or opti 4000d

I'll try set the LPF to 80 hz, is that on the amp and the HU LPF off? or both to 80?

My budget will be around £600 for the amp later on in the year, thinking SA 3500 or a SPL Dynamics amp

Took a quick video of the above problem, 4 main parts:

No HU bass enhancer - No amp bass boost

Level 3 HU bass enhancer - No amp bass boost

No HU bass enhancer - 3/4 amp bass boost

Level 3 HU bass enhancer - 3/4 amp bass boost

Will edit this with the youtube link when it finishes uploading.

As you can see it's got nice excursion (not that it matters too much) and it can actually move stuff in my car. How can I make the first part like the last part without causing damage? I smelt my port just after this vid and I smelt nothing
