mmets Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 First off thanks for taking your time here. I know not everyone has a lot so I will try to keep this short. Currently this is my set up I have in a 09 Malibu (been in the Army for over 18 years, not rich so the bu is what I have right now) Pioneer AVH-8400BH Focal 6.5 K2 Power components (front) Focal 6.5 K2 Power Mid Bass add on (rear) JL Audio 600/4 2 DC Audio level 3 10's in a sealed box RE Audio XTX 5000.1 (at a 1 ohm load) 5 Farad cap Before this ran 2 15 Obsidians in a ported box (something like 8 cubit feet tuned to 34hz) Been a while so don't remember what I built the box to. Love the system now but want something more and something just crazy. Not sure if I will take the back seat out or get a SUV to mess around with. Still want to keep the Focal's and maybe add another set. Looking at 2 18's for subs. SMD, DC audio level 5's, DD, PSI. Amps looking at crescendo 3500, dc 3.5k Not really sure what else is out there. I know the big names like jl/ pioneer and what not but they all have a high price and wont do what I want. Of course will be doing the big three, maybe two 270/300 amp alts, two or three batteries. Just wondering what your thoughts are on the subs/amps or maybe even something else to look into. Chris Hammer Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 I have the headunit. Works well..bunch of features and good price. I definitely would recommend it. The only thing I would change from looking at the list is the RE amp. IMO better options out there for the 2 level3's MY BUILD *****http://tinyurl.com/gmcbuild***** Vehicles 2005 GMC Canyon CB1000r - Currently where any future funds are going. Chris Hammer Posted March 20, 2013 Report Posted March 20, 2013 Your paying 350+ for 2500w...for that much money there are other brand si owuld go with..but Im not a RE fan. You could probably get a used Crescendo BC2k, Soundqubed/AQ, SK2500, sundown 2500 for around that much on here or Caco. I might get flamed for this...but I had one for a while. Soundstream Rubicon 2500. Budget amp and puts out close to rated after tuned with DD1...I recall a thread recently where someone clamped it. mmets Posted March 20, 2013 Author Report Posted March 20, 2013 Chris, The RE amp is not the best IMO either but for what I paid for it and what I wanted it for at the time for it has been ok. But the 10s and that amp are going to be gone with the new system. I have a Soundstream Rubicon 500/1 some where in the house here that I have had for years. I do like their amps but not sure about the new ones out there. Ive had the 500 for maybe 8 to 10 years now. The head unit is nice. My only complaint with it is that I also have the U220 nav unit hooked up to it and with the NAV I cant use the iphone cable (cd-1U201S) and the nav. one or the other. so I have a 60 dollar cable sitting in my desk still in the plastic. (thanks pioneer) but still prefer their head unit's over others. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/177477-slowboring-07-trailblazer-build/Pioneer DEH-80PRSPRV 8MR400-NDY (eight) PRV TW350Ti (6)Sky High 1/0 OFC, 12 gauge and 8 gaugeTM Metalworkz battery terminals 120 sqft HushmatXS Power D3100 (6)Singer 350 Amp Alt Singer 320 (2)American Bass SQL3200 JL Audio JX360/4 Crossfire XS 8K (2) DC Audio XL 15s (6)
