DruLoco
true that, i'll have a pic up as soon i can, prob wont be today though. And yes surface was sanded before grounded. This is my first problem with this setup since it was installed 2 years ago, though that probably doesn't mean anything lol. What gauge wire are you using? What subwoofers / amp? Lots of Qs lol haha, Big 3 has not been done (waiting for warmer weather) prob pushing no more than 900 watts with both amps just the one starter battery 90amp alternator 4 guage wire 12 inch obsidian and a hifonics hfi 1000 at 1ohm also voltage drops to about 12.3 - 12.5 when im really bumping,a bit lower sometimes. using dmm at battery Mk4 jetta 2 point slow Kenwood KDC-X496 hifonics HFI-1000d Obsidian 12 in a 2 cube box 34hz some shitty orion 4 channel 2 pairs of infinty components
Snoopdan
What kind of metal is the ground made out of? I ask this because there is varying rates of resistance rates depending on metal. For instance, it would be easier for a alumnium to steel connection to build up a resistive corrosion surface between the two metals than lets say copper to steel. I know this happens, I have alumnium 4/0 ground blocks bolted to my frame and I have to clean them every couple of years. DruLoco
Not too sure, i would say aluminum. I have to get a pic up here, looks like the ground is actually on a body panel may have to move it all together. also, today i noticed as i was driving it would cut out when i hit the gas, and would be fine at a light. I found that odd any thoughts on that? DruLoco
removed my cap today, looks like the problem is solved. took it for a test drive tried out a few songs, no cut off in bass. And checking the voltage at the battery and amp while music is playing it looks like my voltage is dropping a bit less than it was with the cap. i would sometimes go down to about 11.8 with the cap, now i haven't dropped below 12.5 Thanks for everyones help! RooTxBeeR
Most caps for the most part on a small electrical system do worse than anything. Now if you have a good electrical and throw a cap on it just to help steady the voltage then that would be a bit different.
