Swissbeef Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 I have a BRZ 1700.1 hooked up and to me its not as power hungry as everyone says, but then again its the first (large) amp ive ran, it was a hell of an upgrade from my crunch 1000
Team Maxxsonics John Posted March 25, 2013 Report Posted March 25, 2013 Actually, it's funny when I see people say the Hifonics amps are "power hungry". I'm not sure they even know what that means or where they got that information other then repeating something they read "on the internets".. The Brutus amps are one of the most efficient amps you can buy. The electrical system requirements are based on the amps RMS power and efficiency and to those that say the amps are "power hungry"...please explain what you mean, how you know this information and maybe explain the amps efficiency rating to the rest of us. Perhaps tell me some comperable amps and how they are more efficient (please don't post any hear-say or "my light dimmed")...anxiously waiting.
tcullen1 Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 Well John here is my experience with a BRE2000 in last 4 months. I currently have 2013 BE2100 got 1st week of March when released. I went from 110 amp alt, stinger spv70, big 3. Stinger 0 gauge, and stock battery with 995cca. I replaced my Diamond 1200.1 and got my BRE2000 (4 months ago ) the 1st week the stock battery n alt went to shit within days. I had to buy another agm (kinetic hc2000, stock battery, and 200 amp alt) in 1st week to even have music and get to work. My wife got stuck at grocery store in my car cuz it just f**n died. It soley was the BRE2000.1 that sucked my car apart. Even with all this 1000$ in wiring, battery, alt my headlights still dim a bit. I am running the BE2100 not by choice but because its all I can afford after upgrading my whole f**n car to keep up with it. I sent back the BE800.4 to Lake Zurich that I bought cuz it sounded sooo bad with my DA components. It had rated power but the sq was the worst. Maxxsonics refunded me and were great with customer service but anyone that wants to go above 1700 watts with your amps better save another 500 for an alternator, and another agm. Thats the real truth. And then your left with a productt that sq is just terrible. I'm stuck for now but am saving for a quality product. Sorry Maxxsonics but it's true. 200amp HO Big 3 Diamond Audio S500s (front) Diamond Audio M65.1a (rear) Kenwood KIV-BT901 Kicker, Stinger, Knu 0 gauge, 4 gauge Kinetik HC2000b x 2 Hifonics BE2100.1 Memphis MR4.480 SQ HDC312's x 2 36hz
adam6604 Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 I run/ran the BRZ2400.1D at .5ohms for almost 2 years, on 2 stock batts ( diesel truck ), stock alternator, 1 run of 1/0, kinetic 1400 in the back, and big 3 done.. I could run it full tilt with surprisingly little voltage drop.. im pretty sure I got some bull shit luck with how well my setup ran.. but I have zero doubts in the BRZ series amps... running .5 daily for 2 years sells me pretty good. lol Driving my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 MEGA cab with the 5.7 hemi. tcullen1 Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 Props bro, I sooo wish I had your luck. It's been a nightmare for me personally. My partner is running 2k on a hc1800 n stock alt and it just eats me up. it is with a better quality amp and I will say that after all the unexpected upgrades I could easily run 3k with current power. i will say my 2100 is powerful but efficient/sq is hardly the case. 200amp HO Big 3 Diamond Audio S500s (front) Diamond Audio M65.1a (rear) Kenwood KIV-BT901 Kicker, Stinger, Knu 0 gauge, 4 gauge Kinetik HC2000b x 2 Hifonics BE2100.1 Memphis MR4.480 SQ HDC312's x 2 36hz
adam6604 Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 yeah that's unfortunate. I've always heard pretty good things for these series of amps. I run 15.5 down to 14.5 all day unless I'm bumping with motor off. I do have a truck but still. I'd say go with the 2400 and call it a day. 2003 f150, 2 ab hd 15 on brutus 2400.1, kinetik batt, big 3, knu wire, image dynamics cxs 6.5 with ppi tweets, pioneer 1din and clarion eq.
