CleanSierra Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 OP, you mentioned Type X in your first post. Another member on here posted information regarding a Sundown X Series sub. Im more inclined to believe that you have an Alpine Type X. So for clarification, what sub DO YOU have? Also, what voice coil configuration is this subwoofer? How do you have it wired up to the amp, as well as voice coils configured? Who built the box the sub is in now? A sealed box is pretty easy stuff partner. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Enzo Posted April 20, 2013 Author Report Posted April 20, 2013 The sub i have currently is the ALpine Type X 1042d. Its wired to 2ohms. Its weird because any song with low notes hits pretty decent but any song that has highs, its like you can barley hear them. Also its weird because when the lows hit my voltage doesnt drop alot, but when the highs hit the voltage drops a ton yet no boom high sound is coming out.
CleanSierra Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 Where did your box come from? Is it COMPLETELY sealed? Any air leak in a sealed box will cause serious output issues. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

ncochran Posted April 20, 2013 Report Posted April 20, 2013 I am checking the recommended dimensions for the Alpine. I was assuming it was Sundown. OK, I think we are still good here. Alpine recommends 36 hz tuning for the 10" sub and a volume of 1 cube (net) if ported. You are at roughly 1.2 cubes net right now, with the displacement of the pvc itself you should be pretty much good to go I think. Yes 3" inner diameter pvc. You can look up the outer diameter online or you can measure it. I would probably look it up as I can read more accurately than I measure lol. Cut the hole to the outer diameter but be careful not to cut too large of a hole or you will have a hard time sealing it lol. You will want to use some sort of sealant anyway once you get the port in. Seal both the inside and the outside of the box around your pvc. The optimal sealed box for that sub is .49 cubes (net) so the same concerns apply as when I thought it was a Sundown sub. Seems like your box is just too big which I think would likely be most of your issue. 2006 Scion xB 2 Sundown SA12D2 Ported at 32hz 147 on non termlab (140-142 on TL) Currently in a walled 4th @ 50hz (not metered yet) Hifonics brz2100 Alpine Type-S Components Kicker 300.2 Big 3 / Skyhigh 1/0 cca Optima Blue Top 3 e8s ported at 32hz 135.1 sealed on dash @ 56hz 135.0 outlaw (I must have chosen song poorly lol) Build log 'Brandon15zzz', on 09 May 2012 - 3:13 PM, said: May have been clipping but none fucks were givin.
