BigPimpin91
Honestly, I would Never, ever, ever, never, ever eeevvveeerrr use a sealed box for ANYTHING. I would go with a ported enclosure tuned to around 30-35hz for great musical quality. Plus, with 4 18"s you are going to get super loud anyway. white_boi_audio
If you did sealed you would have to make a damn good box so it wouldn't flex or break. Like resin/fiberglass the whole inside and maybe outside to and brace the shito out of it. Torres
why you wantin to go against ported? space issues for the 4 instead of the 3?
memphis_finest1
The reason i asked was because i was told that sealed boxes sound better , Now i just dropped an ass load of money on this Z1 dech so i want it to sound really well = ) Quote ALLAH's the most gracious, he made the universe the most spaciousSeen and heard in all places, but still appear facelessEmbraces all races, all caste and all casesIn every spec of life he's the substance of all traces
Torres
some people like sealed better. but i like the fine tuning you can do with ported. plus output is ftw in my book
aznboi3644
Port can sound just as good if not better if designed and built correctly. You can get just as loud and sound good with half the woofers and half the power..half the money. Less strain on the electrical. Less money spent overall for the same output and sound
Torres
they sound 'sharper' i believe, but the output isnt as high as a ported. hell...try it out. that's the part of car audio that's all fun. tuning, tuning, and more tuning
BigPimpin91
Why not ? The aren't really tune-able to a specific output. The air being compressed inside of the box stops the woofer short, in effect, choking it. I also heard sealed was better but after hearing a ported one that person is full of sh!t.
