Painting an amp

I want my amp to match the color of my car. Would there be any reason why I should not paint the top of my amp? Of course everything except the top would be covered and taped up so over spray will get inside or on any connectors.

most amps use the top as a heat sink, if you paint then I would expect that it would be more difficult to dissipate heat from the heat sink.

You dont see painted amps for a reason man. I would leave it alone.

Or have it powder coated. or anodized.

Paint would not be a good option at all.

Is paint not a good option because it retains heat? I appreciate your input. How would powder coating it be different from painting?
