I looking to get some ideas together on a setup for my 72 old cutlass. the car currently has pioneer 6x9 in rear and jenson 5 1/4 in front, and jvc head unit from previous owner. I tossed some rockfords in the trunk to hold me over for awhile. But now im ready to lay the system out right. at my disposal now i have a rockford sub setup and kenwood sub setup (2 12's and amp). As this will probably be a show/ cruise car. I'm looking for sound quality over big bass. Looking for suggestions on speakers, amps, subs, head units? Not trying to break the bank as this is my toys car and I'll be doing the install but not I'm to trying to sound like crap either. Suggestions please.

H/U would be the pioneer prs 80 to start with.

Hertz hsk165's for the front on an old school ppi art series, anything ZED, zapco and linear power which can be found on ebay for very reasonable prices, i would look for something in the 150w ch range for passive crossovers.

Pair of FI X 10's or 12's running on an AQ 1200 for sub stage.

If you must have speakers in back then just get a really nice set of 6x9's of any brand for rear fill and run them off h/u power.

i would put some 6x9 4 of them in the rear deck 2 for left 2 for the right buy the most powerfull ones you can get then do the same for the doors if you can put 6x9 in the doors that would be great run them off a powerfull 4 channel old school amp soundstream, zapco 4 channel that would be a old school mids and high system and with the rear deck working as a free air it would have bass also not much but enough to enjoy the music

Something along the lines of an old school PPI A1200 would work nicely on those subs and old school class AB amps are very nice powering subs with.

There are also the us amps VLX line that can pump some massive power.
