Ha ha I can understand that,, luckily my boo doesnt mind. She knows that ive been a basshead since a I was a kid, how important it is to me, and that its not just a hobby, its a part of who I am. Whats funny is that i would always bump when she was pregnant with both kids, (not too hard) and after they were born (theyre 10 months and 21 days apart) when they would start crying in the back seat throwing fits, you could turn just a little bit of bass on (not so loud as to hurt their little ears) but once they heard the bass they would fall right to sleep every time. Crazy kids. My 5 year old says she wants my old mercedes, she says she wants it pink and purple, with polkadots and bass in the back.. ha ha thats my girl.

Finally got in primer, 3 coats. Once dry, itll be time to wet sand. Losing daylight fast so I hope I can get it in paint tonight before it gets too late.

I second that. lol. My favorite thing to do is when your behind someone at a stop light and the light turns green, yet they continue to sit there. Instead of honking the horn, I just give em a quick burst of some dee-beez and watch them jump real quick.. lol

My system isnt that loud but its loud enough that if ur on the phone and not paying attion to driving i will turn it up and make it hard for you to carry that conversation. Im one of those firm believers in not talking or txting while ur vechical is in motion. If i get a phone call from someone and i think it migjt be important i pull over to the closest parking lot and the only time i txt is when the light just turned red and i know ill be there long enough to send that txt. Just to many people get wraped up in their phone and dont pay attion to driving and cause wrecks. Cant count the times people dont pay close attion to the road and pull out in front of me. Or people that say stereo systems distract you im just like can you sleep with a 130 db poundin at you cause im a heavy sleeper and i cant. But end rant lol keep up the good work love the detail uv put into you box now if i could just teach my friends to properly finish their boxes like this

Yeah Im with you on the phone issue. I definitely dont even look at my phone while driving. Now granted, I do use Siri and Vlingo to make/receive calls and send/receive texts via voice. I do agree with you 100% that phones are distracting, (at least to 99% of the general public). I am a strange bird though, I can get a 20 kill streak in call of duty while carrying on a full conversation with my wife, and yeling at the kids to stay out of my refrigerator, all at the same time. lol But, even at that, I always use hands free (always) and ensure that I dont get into any deep debates over the phone. The majority of conversations I have while driving usually consist of "Ill be there in a minute".

Oh and lolz on the detail. I have had so many friends that would go drop serious dollars on new subs and build a box with gaps in the seems, overhanging edges that were an 1/8th inch too long, and just spray paint it flat black with one thin coat, so thin you could see the grain of the plywood underneath lol. I used to have unfinished boxes from time to time, but that was when I was in a better financial place than I am right now, I was always changing and modifying the system regularly so spending the effort on the box was a moot point. But I love my beemer and these Sundowns will probably be in here until I tear a spider or something so I wanted to ensure it looked good.

Well, happy mothers day to all the mothers out there. Im off to go celebrate my mama, then back home to finish.

Because of the humidity and temperature last night, the primer didnt get fully dry. So it should be nice and good today to wet sand, then 4 coats of Gloss black and once the paint dries, in she goes. Ill have more pics later today.

Update!

Well it took a little bit longer to get paint on than expected. The primer was a little too thin, took forever to harden.

Ive textured the front and upper baffles then shot black. The sides and back are just lightly dusted because they wont be seen.

I am installing in just a couple of hours.

I have to put the terminals in, (going to use some t-anchors and 1/4 bolts to create terminals for the front sub, the top ones will be inverted to show off the baskets and motors.

So expect pics and vid tomorrow afternoon....

Well, I am almost done. Only one sub left to mount. But I am going to have to wait for my homie to come over, because I need to tilt the box back to mount the front sub, I dont personally want to try to hold the sub up with one hand and try to screw it in with the other. So excited. It has been about 4 months since I pulled the dilapidated Kicker l7`s out. Really sucks to not have sounds. But life gets in the way, even for me.

After being a die hard kicker fanatic for so so so many years, Im excited to try something different. So fingers crossed that Sundown doesn't disappoint.

I got a friend that droped $800 on some jl w3s and we built him a box kinda like a 3rd order its sealed with a piece of mdf covering the subs and new wireing. Box is behind drivers seat all the way to the cealing in his truck( its same truck as the black nasty) and its left bare not even rounded over. Its stupid loud for what it is just ugly

Glad to have this done. So are my back and feet.

So far the system sounds good. Even though I feel it is mildly underpowered it still is notably louder than the Kicker l7`s. The reason for the under power issue, is that my amp rates at 2000 watts at 1 ohm. Im running 3 dual 2`s so the amp is actually only seeing 1.33 ohm. Meaning that it is producing less power with the sundowns than it did with the solobarics.

Granted, the efficiency and rms power rating of the sundowns help a bit to make up for this issue. They are definitely performing well. But I do think that a nice ZX2500.1 would be nice, and since I dont drive around with the system extremely loud all the time, running the zx2500.1 at 1.33 ohms shouldnt be a problem. So I may look into getting one next semester.

As of now, the todo list is, I must lay the back seat down and scoot the box forward so that I can lift the panel up, I need to access the amp and crossover to increase the gain (gain was almost 3/4 of the way down when I had the kickers in)... I also need to readjust the crossover. Lastly I need to get the new tweeters installed. Other than that, Im pretty happy.
