Iceewyte Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 I have a 2002 GMC Sonoma extended cab. The max measurements I have available for a box is 52x24x14. I have a loaded 15" BL and a hifonics brutus brz2400.1d to push it. It's currently in a 3cf box tuned to 33hz. This thing really falls off on the lows and I've been told that it was because the box is too small. What would you all suggest for this particular setup? Any and all suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Joe X Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Yes the net volume is on the short side but it would be nice to show some pics just to see of there is anything else wrong. Also you should check that your subsonic filter is not set too high.
Iceewyte Posted May 20, 2013 Author Report Posted May 20, 2013 I checked the subsonic filter. It's sitting directly between 15 and 35Hz. How do I upload a photo onto here? I tried from PhotoBucket and it says I can't use that image extension on this community.

CoritaAlterado Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 The IMG code of the picture should work, try that.
Iceewyte Posted May 20, 2013 Author Report Posted May 20, 2013 What do you think Joe, could you design me something?
Joe X Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 Yes I could but I don't see an obvious flaw with your current box from the outside, do you have the the external dimensions of the box and the dimensions of the port (height, width, length)? Also what kind of music you intend to play?
Iceewyte Posted May 21, 2013 Author Report Posted May 21, 2013 The box is 25 tall by 24.5 wide by 13 deep. The port is 4 tall by 11.5 wide by 23.75 long. The length of the port could be 1/4 inch either way because it goes in then slants down. It's kind of hard to get a super precise measurement. I listen to only rap.
Joe X Posted May 21, 2013 Report Posted May 21, 2013 Ok if that port does not turn down after the corner then your box specs at 2.7 cubes @38.5 Hz, 46 square inches of port (also there may be a design fault in the port), that would really make a bad spec specially for the kind of music you listen to, so here is a suggestion: Enclosure Specifications:Fb = 33 HzVb = 4.2 ft^3External Height = 20 inExternal Width = 38 inExternal Depth = 17 inPort Width = 4 5/8 inCut Sheet List:* All Dimensions in Inches.* Wood Thickness is 3/4 for all Parts.External Enclosure Parts:2 x Front & Back (3 parts) = 38 x 20Left & Right Sides =Side 1 = 18 1/2 x 14 3/4Side 2 = 19 1/4 x 14 3/4Top = 32 5/8 x 14 3/4Bottom = 38 x 14 3/4L Port Internal Assembly Parts:Top to Bottom = 13 7/8 x 14 3/4Extension = 11 x 14 3/4 Assembly guide (generic dimensions): Important notes:- All boxes built outside the vehicle need to fit in their way in not just have the right dimensions.- The port needs 4 5/8" of free airspace in front of it for proper operation.- Setting your amp subsonic filter to 28Hz is suggested. - 1"- 1 1/4" wooden dowel rods for bracing.
Iceewyte Posted May 21, 2013 Author Report Posted May 21, 2013 Man I really appreciate this. I'm going to build this weekend and I'll post pictures and maybe a video. How much do I owe you for your time and design Joe?
