slc123
Alright so this is my first topic started on SMD so bear with me. I've been watching builds on here for the past couple years as a bystander, meanwhile doing alot of my own and I thought it was time to get in on the benefits of showing what you got and get input from other Car Audio Fanatics! This build is my personal truck that Ive had for about 4 years. 2003 GMC Sierra crew cab 2500HD with a vortech 8.1L.As for audio upgrades Ive been through many different set up's gradually building up to this, but this set up is so I can figure out where I can go bigger as far as subs and amps. Here is what we have so far for audio2003 GMC Sierra w/ 8.1LAlpine INE-S920HD3 sets of Rockford T2 6.5's2 sets of Rockford T2 5.25's1 Rockford 360.32 Boston acoustics spg555 subs in 5cu.ft ported box tuned to 36Hz 1 ea. Lighting is terrible where I live so having limo tint makes night visibility very bad, so I threw these in so they automaticaly come on in reverse but they are also on a relay to a flip switch so I can turn them on when I want. So tailgaters beware these are freaking bright!! They can light up a few blocks to say the least, I flipped them on when a buddie of mine was following and he had to come to a complete stop because they blinded him so bad. He was pretty pissed off ! Ill post some better pics when the truck is done so you can see how good they light up]/URL] My 03' sierra crew cab Here build in progress
slc123
Pics of the interior stripped and the roof getting some sound deadening, also a look at the wiring for speakers I cut the matting underneath so wires sit more flush(no bumps!) This was how I was originally going to have the amps laid out but up behind the rear headrest's, plans change, and definatly for the better These were before I flushed the wiring Wiring up all these crossovers was a PITA! But as is almost if not all wiring Labeling helps lol! roof fully deadened Great stuff really is GREAT STUFF! Filled in all the cavities up top for strength and to prevent ratteling, this helped a shit ton on my sonoma when I had these subs in it, it was so bad/loud I hated turning my system up so I stopped going full tilt for like a month. shoved some of this in there and deadener, with a layer of polyfill, it hardly flexes at all now! It got rid of the loud buzzing completly. I didnt want to take a chance of this truck doing that, so I went ahead and Filled it up! Also did the rear panel (above) FYI those rattle on these trucks even in small systems I use Pollyfill(the type they use to make blankets not the stuff we use for box enclosures well its the same but this stuff comes in a roll not like one big cotton ball) on the backs of panels because it reduces panel vibration and makes the panels fit alot more snug! COLTON94
The truck looks real nice. Normally im not a fan of 4 doors and for some reason i like the billet grill. Cant wait to see the stereo build though
slc123
All these are off of my phone, so I'll post up some pictures later off of my camera those are for the reserved spots. First I had to strip out the interior completly then start running speaker wire to where I mounted the crossover's on the B pillar. These pictures are of the previouse set up which was a set of t2 6.5's in each door and some additional t2 tweeters in the a&c pillars. I am going to replace the stand alone tweeters with RF T2 5.25's, and add another set of 6.5's in the kick pannels. here's some pics of how the old crossover set up looked My 03' sierra crew cab Here build in progress
