  1. Just curious as I'm currently upgrading my electrical. I'd consider the 12k to be up there with some of the much bigger amps out there which I'm sure most will agree on. Could I run a 12k with this electrical: Dual 225 Amp Alternators 2 x 1300 CCA 200aH Delkor 8D-1300 1 x Optima YellowTop 750 CCA 55aH I get that the electrical may be so poor for this amp that this post may seem like a joke. But I'd genuinely like to know, Thanks.
  2. Just wanted to say thanks to Cody for coming out to the shop. You did a great job this week! Now to some good Vid fun!!
  3. I'm running 2 lvl 4 12's with the Xl upgrades, as stated. I'm looking for some thoughts about the box I've built for them. The boxes exterior dimensions are 26 wide 18 deep and 18 tall. Torres calculated the interior air space to be approx. 3.86ft3 with approx. 12.79in2 of of port per ft3. The port is 5.5in2 by about 26 inches long. The concern I'm having is that (by my very untrained eye) I'm getting more excursion out of one sub than the other. These are being pushed by a DC Audio 3.5k with stock alt. I wasn't able to check voltage at amp while pushing on it, but with Jeep idling it was metered at 13.7 volts. Obviously the box wasn't finished when pics were taken, but I wanted to make sure I give an idea of what I was dealing with. Thank you in advance for any and all help, and suggestions and criticisms are acceptable, but please take it kinda easy on me.
  4. Had a issue with the Jeep Commanders 320 amp alternator, the postive stud got so hot it melted the power wires going to battery. Removed alternator and replaced with spare alternator. Sent it in 11/24/14 got it back already today repaired looking like new again! Cannot believe how fast the repair service is. This is the reason why I use Mechman. Why did it fail? I don't care been doing this long enough to know mechanical machines go out. Something generating 320 amps of current can have failures. Thanks Mechman you Rock the Commander!!!!! Keep up the good work!
  5. and even though you were told that you didnt meet the requirements to sell when you were trying to figure out what it was worth you still posted a for sale ad and even thogh you had to scroll through all the forum rules to post a for sale ad and got some of them right you still missed the one about 150 posts. please re read the for sale rules.
  6. hello everyone. thought i would show my team mates extreme van now that it is close to being finished(maybe lol). the van has had 4 setups in it this year alone. did MECA finals last year with 6 DD9512s in a 4th order...was trying to be the first to break a 60 in mod4...did it in testing just never in the lane best it got was 159.4. lost a couple subs there and 2 weeks later had the first MECA show of 2012 it was changed. loss 3 subs but added 4 6in aero port to change into a 6th order and did a 60 out the gate in X2. then it got changed again to compete in SS 3-4 with 4 DC team Lv5 18s...best score with that setup was at a Db Drag show did a 162.4. now on to the 4th build. their goal this year was to break Steve Cooks record on automotive glass iirc is 170.3. the 3-4 setup at the shop did a 164.8 on half power...not close enough to add all the amps so that was tore out to go even bigger. current setup is 8 DC Lv5 15s on all 16 DC 5ks i will get on with the older pics now poor 9512 reconed in 15 minutes tops SS 3-4 6th order sorry there isnt more pics changed phones and camera during this time so quite a bit is missing. but this brings us up to last night. getting ready for MECA finals this weekend. Db Drag had to be put on hold with the change ups and curt having a baby girl be born, him and greg decided to just finish out MECA this year. so its crunch time lol 8 Lv5 15s 11 of the 16 amp in new "headliner" lol 3/8 steel plate new stripper pole 1.5in all thread top and bottom brackets dinner 36in legend himself stopped by to lend a hand Eric Alexander...thanks to him i didnt have to call off work today curt wiring up number 15 greg getting started on 16 lances awesome tape job last amp going in battery bank after resting the night my phone died...well it wont take pics below 5% so i didnt get any with the stripper pole installed. it is only held in by the compression of the plate(no bolts or welding)...its not going any where lol figured i would post this up for everyone especially for DC Audio and XS Power.
  7. I am currently having an issue with my sub. I've had it hooked up for about 5 days now and every time I crank it up, it gets hot, real quick. Anyone else having a similar problem with theirs? I have a dual 2ohm model wired at 1 ohm on my amp which is a Hifonics Brutus BRZ2100D. I also have a pair of RE Audio SXX 12's that I run on the same amp and do not encounter the same problem.
  8. Got a few questions in regards to DC audio equipment as i plan on getting two 15s to go in my trunk as a DAILY driver that i will compete with here or there. I plan on running a BARE MINIMUM of a 5k watt amp (Please dont suggest electrical upgrades as this isnt an electrical thread and please dont ask "whats my budget" if i was worried too much about budget i wouldnt be looking to make the jump to DC. Thank you.) 1. do they make the level 6 as a 15"? I see only one online dealer that even shows them no place else not even the dc audio website. 2. What are all the options I see spider, leads and dust cap options but whats the cooling option? all I know is ive seen some subs with a large center hole for cooling and some without. Will this reduce the overall power handling and/or extend the life of my sub? Side note my subs usually get beat on pretty hard for about 1 or more hours at a time. 3. What are the different spider options? I see theres a medium, medium/stiff, stiff, super stiff. what what and what does that mean other then a longer break in period? does that effect power handling at all and/or the duration of life of my sub? 4. Someone told me its possible to get extra spiders to help the sub stay in one piece is this true or does this just fall under 3? 5. I would like to run at least a 1 ohm setup but should i get dual 0.7 ohm just to get more out of my 5k watt amp for these beasts? (goes for lvl 5 or lvl 6 if it does come as a 15) 6. If this was YOUR build going in YOUR vehicle that you drive around for hours at a time with it basically on full tilt what ohm load would you run and how much power would you put minimum if you had the last two subs dc would ever make and if you break them your SOL? This question applies to both lvl 5 and lvl 6. 7. You think i should just call DC?
  9. Just thought I would share a little project I've been working on..I've got 2 5.0k's I'm doing this to but this was alot of work so I'll show you the money shot's first then I'll finish the rest with kind of a build log set up but this way you wont have to wait till the end to see the results... your welcome so kinda hard to tell which was the point but the SMD D'Amore VM-1 OM-1 and TM-1 are behind the plexi I smoked some lit up pics soo yeah there are built in fans controlled by the TM-1 and are set to turn on when the inside of the amp reaches 100 degrees This will all be all internally wired I'm not done this isn't perfect needs some tlc before I'll call it good!! I'm leaving the contry for a month but just wanted to get this presentable before I left Soooo yeah if you want to point out any flaws....GFY! I have lots of pics of this thing being built but I'll post those later here's a small vid of them Also I couldnt hold the camera power it up to show the led's sweep because we all know thats one of the best parts of these ...couldn't do both and turn the led controller on......... so when both 5.0k's are done I'll post a vid of all 6 meters firing up if you want to check out my current truck build that all of this is going in that is here http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/169404-goodvibez-04-dmax-10k-center-console-rebuild-4-dc-xl-10s/page-20 dunno if you can tell but I love these things Lastly Thank you SMD and D'amore engineering for the help Much appreciated
  10. Not the greatest pic but here is the battery box/amp rack with 3 DC Level 4 12's... Still have a few more things to do and also need to clean up the wiring...

  12. Jeff Smith putting his 4 15's and 2 10K's to work in the IASCA lanes Started at a 157.9 out the gate sealed on music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=903TH5Uv9qU&feature=share&list=UUAdPEo7EM_i6vSzdXkfj7Xg&index=6
  13. Maybe this has been posted before But I am curious as to the outside dimensions of these amplifiers. Example: 40" long by 16.5" wide x 3" tall I did not see dimension on their site.
  14. So recently I got my DC5K running my two DC XL12's and they were sounding great. A week ago I noticed a harsh rattling noise that I figured was my fiberglass trim piece around the subs or maybe the rear deck..... Boy was I wrong once I started looking closer. Well check out the bottom edge of my sub baffle (pardon the dirt, I'm still working on the front of the box): Yep...the whole bottom edge is cracked apart from the bottom plate of the box. This is a double baffle of 3/4" MDF which is also cut on an angle so there's >1.5" of contact area which broke loose.... Here's a video which shows the issue better: I was hoping it wasn't something serious like a damaged sub or something, but I was quite surprised that it turned out to be this. My first reaction was to be pissed, but I have to say I'm not mad at all, in fact I'm quite impressed. It's not like I have a wall either with long sides that could flex. This should have been pretty solid. Hmmm, maybe I didn't use enough glue, who knows...? Anyway just wanted to share. Rusty, thank you, I think for definitely making some bad ass equipment.
  15. This is a video my friend shot of my Tahoe while at a show. Song is bass ballin slowd to 22 and 24hz DC FTW!!!!!!!!
