How does this (Beginner) setup sound?

Recommended Posts

So I finally got the engine finished in my '93 tercel, and I'm ready to put a setup in there (Preferably the trunk). But I only have a budget of about $300. Although I could sell a couple things i.e. Kindle Fire, leftover subs and amp, etc. and make a little more cash.

I've looked at getting two 8" Sundown subs (http://www.woofersetc.com/p-11186-e8v3d2-sundown-audio-8-dvc-2-ohm-subwoofer.aspx) with a RF Prime R500-1 amp.(http://www.woofersetc.com/p-11186-e8v3d2-sundown-audio-8-dvc-2-ohm-subwoofer.aspx). I will build the box myself and probably end up having it facing the back of the seats.

Not sure if there is anything else I could say about it. But I want to know if this would be a good beginner setup.

sounds like a sweet first setup really, why do you want 8" subs tho?

And make sure you use some good 4 gauge wire minimal for that amp, and a good battery as that tercel only has a 70 amp alternator

I don't have the biggest trunk. With the 8"s I can pick up two of them, or I can get one 12 (Or 10, I don't remember) for the same price.

And I live in Sweet Home, a little backroads town two hours from Portland.

The 10's aren't much more expensive and would give you more cone area and better low end response than the 8's would. as long as you got room in your trunk for a 13" tall box you will be fine, plus these don't need a huge box.

Plan on building a ported or sealed enclosure for whatever you choose?

Lucky for me my max height is 14". And I guess I should probably go with the 10's.

And the amp is still good right?
